Dr. Kathleen McHale, MD, FACS, FAAOS

I’ll admit that I was a bit apprehensive after reading these reviews, but my son broke his arm and we could see Dr. McHale 2 days earlier than other doctors. The office staff was friendly and kind and we didn’t wait more than 5 minutes on our first visit. On our second visit, we got called back before our actual appointment time! Dr. McHale was gentle with my 5 year old son and worked to make him feel comfortable during the whole broken arm/cast/cast removal experience.

Visited this doctor 3 times and all my visits have lasted over 1 hour wait times. My last visit was the most horrible when we waited close to 2 hours. The office did not switch their air conditioning on inspire of having people wait in the lobby on a day when the temp was 92F. People were complaint and laughing at the service and while most complained some left midway including us. Horrible experience considering we had a 6 month old with us.

Dr. McHale is a no nonsense highly professional practitioner. She will not push for a surgery if the problem can be solved in another manner. She spends time to ask questions, explain, reassure as well as providing accurate diagnostic every time I visited as a patient or for my children. Surgery was always a success.

Horrible person, no manners or patience - do not recommend.

My son and I were in time for his 12:10 appt. At 12:40 we were finally taken back to the exam room - where we waited & waited. At 1:10 (an hour past our appt. time) I asked the front desk if they knew when we would be seen. The receptionist said she would check but never gave us an update. My son was a current patient of Commonwealth Orthopedics & had X rays & an MRI in their office. We we referred "in house" to McHale as a pediatric Orthopedist with Commonwealth to discuss the MRI. At 2 PM, almost 2 hours late and with no apology, she finally sees us yet has NO idea why we are there. She had not even opened my son's file to review the report from the radiologist. I will NEVER see this doctor again as she clearly had no regard for the time she kept us waiting.

Dr McHale has done 2 surgeries on my daughter and getting ready to do one for me. I had been to 2 other doctors prior and they couldn't tell me what was wrong with my daughter until I saw her. She told me what was wrong, fixed it and showed me the pictures to prove what she was saying post op. I have been VERY impressed with her. She works around the clock and very hard at what she does. I have been very happy with her and the majority of her staff I LOVE!

The worst doctor I have had the pleasure of meeting. Was on time for my son's appointment. We had to wait for 1 hr 15 min in the 1990's waiting room. Then had to wait an additional 15 mins in the room. She walks in and I tell her about the family history, the diagnosis by my son's primary physician and that X-Ray's have been done (which I marked in the forms she had me fill out). She asks to observe my son's back, points out the obvious, and then "smartly" says that we should get X-Ray's done. At which point I had reminded her that its already done and I have already provide her tech with the electronic X-Ray's. Then she comments, "it does not matter how or why he has his condition", to which I had to remind her again that I just told her that the back condition runs in my family. What a doofus. She should not be practicing medicine. Lucky me, I will have to pay her medical bill.

Based on personal exp, dr mchale did surgery on my son's elbow, called for post op visit, say there for long time, we are self pay patients and expected them to give us self pay rate, office manager bluntly refused and said its illegal, I said hospital and all other doctors are offering to self pay but who don't like more money, I said if we would have insurance you probably won't get 1/3 so charge us double what you can get from insurance answer was big no, during post op no one told there will cost and we were charged more than $500 for only a simple X RAY And new cast, same for next visit, final bill was almost 4000 dollors and we were asked to pay 30% and when I said I was questioned DO I have a job to pay and we were asked to signed a document so in case we don't pay on a specific date our account will be sent to collect next day with out grace period, if you don't have insurance please avoid going to her, you will be helpless,

Dr. McHale was straight forward with me and did not mince words. She did not give me any illusions that something other that what she explained would take place. When I ran into trouble after coming home, I called her and she right away told me "you are not alone in this; I am here for you as long as you need me". She is wonderful.

My daughter broke her arm. While the staff was very nice, and the technician who applied the cast was very good, Dr. McHale spent basically no time with us. She looked at the xray we brought for a fraction of a second; she left the room before I could ask any questions, and she told us we only needed the cast for 2.5 weeks. Based on my lack of information from her, I feel leary about having it taken off so quickly and may seek a second opinion.
