Dr. Kavitha Kosuri

I am seeing Dr. Kousari for stage 4 breast cancer. Many friends and colleagues encouraged me to go to Siteman. I am so, so happy I made the choice instead to go to Mercy and that my physician is Dr. Kosuri. She has a wonderful bedside manner. Never rushed. Answers every question thoroughly. She is respectful, kind, experienced, and most importantly positive. She gives me hope and encouragement where I think some Doctors may be more grim. The way she phrases things is always with a sincere emphasis on hope and positivity, but also direct and honest. Communication when I am not in her office is timely and helpful. Excellent coordination of care. 5 stars!

My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 neuro endocrine cancer. Dr. Kosuri started off great, got her into chemo quickly, said it was "a treatment, not a cure." She seemed to make excellent contact with my wife, seemed sincere. 4 months later, Dr. Kosuri stopped chemo, said my wife was too weak, in too much pain. She said our options were hospice or trial drug, then walked out with a "good luck." That was the last we heard from her. When I told her nurse that my wife died shortly thereafter, I did not get a note, a card or a call from Dr. Kosuri. She may know chemo, but she doesn't know compassion. My family and I were very disappointed in this lack of caring. (As a comparison, the oncologist at Siteman who saw my wife only twice, wrote a beautiful hand-written note of condolence and caring. That's how it should be done. No doctor is too busy for that.)

She told me the probability that I had cancer was great, just because of my past breast cancer (26 years ago), and the radiologist report raised suspicions when a tumor was found in my spine. She diagnosed me without a biopsy or Pet Scan. When I had the Pet Scan on a Thursday, results came in on Friday. She went out of town for the weekend and did not contact me until Monday. Made me wait all weekend thinking the worst. She could have at least given her asst. or nurse permission to give me my results. The Pet Scan was clear. No cancer. That's great, but she shouldn't have made me wait that long on pins and needles and shouldn't have been so quick to tell me I had cancer. Would not recommend her and if I needed an oncologist, I wouldn't go back to her.

I love Dr. Kosuri. She is an excellent Doctor, kind and explains things to me where I can understand.

Wonderful caring, compassionate doctor. Highly recommend!
