I was almost afraid to make an appointment at Rockland Nephrology based on a very negative review I read beforehand. I'm glad I took a chance anyway. I had a great experience there. The staff was nice in person and kind on the phone when I made the appointment. Dr Shapiro is a world-class nephrologist, a Best Doctor in New York (New York magazine) for several years. We are lucky to have a doctor of his caliber in Rickland where we live. HIs knowledge of my problem was extensive. He was extremely thorough in taking my history to be sure he had a complete picture of my state of health.He answered all of my questions and spent as much time with me as I needed. He's not warm and fuzzy but I don't need my doctor to be the life of the party. He is polite, respectful and well experienced. He is going to follow up with me on my test results via telephone, sparing my time and the cost of another visit. I could not be more pleased with my new doctor.

Dr Shapiro is knowledgeable, friendly and goes above and beyond to make his patients feel comfortable and well informed.

Doctor is good, but his staff is really unhelpful and unpleasant. Quite a few people but so far each one was rude, impatient, discourteous, they act like they are too busy, they can't help you , they say I JUST TOLD YOU when you ask them to please repeat what they just told you but you couldn't hear because they were not speaking into their mouthpiece. It is too hard to deal with this doctor, even just getting appt took two calls and over an hour. I should have known then.

All I can say is.... Absolutely the best - -caring, professional. smart as a whip, available, has the best partners (I've seen them all and they are all great). Office staff VERY nice and always fits me in.. I think the front person has been with them a while, she knows her way around very well and knows me by name (says hello every time, and I don't go in very often). Dr Shapiro even drew my blood himself, in the office so didn't have to go to a lab or the hospital for that.
