Was talked about by the nurse to the office manger She said I had a bad attitude. They would not let me speak to the Dr. They are very unprofessional. Waited over s month for the appointment. I should have known by making the appointment, cause they were rude over the phone.

Great experience with doctor, poor service with office staff

I want to begin by saying that my husband’s experience with Dr. Kenneth W. Jones was excellent. However, he had a lot of trouble during the booking process. It’s important to note that this is my husband’s first experience with any major medical procedure, as shown in his file. His initial appointment with Dr. Jones went smoothly. Dr. Jones was very professional and treated my husband with dignity and respect. He clearly outlined what was wrong and how he would fix it in surgery. The issues began after confirming the date of his surgery with the doctor and the woman in charge of booking appointments. The doctor set the date, as booking lady confirmed it on her laptop. They stated that the booking lady would be contacting my husband with specifics on time and payment. About a week later, my husband called back to follow-up on the details and spoke with the same lady. She stated that she didn’t have any new information and that she would be contacting him. After waiting another week without any contact from the office, my husband both emailed and called the office. He was instructed by another office staff member to call back the next day, as she was out for the day. He called back the next day and was told that there was still no information available. Another week went by (at this point, one week before surgery) and still no contact from office, so he called again. This time the lady told him that his appointment wasn’t on the date stated, but that it was set for two days later. He had to remind her of the date the doctor and she had agreed on, to which she stated, “Ok, I’ll change it back to (the first date he was told).” He asked about payment and she stated that based on what she knew about his insurance provider there shouldn’t be any problems with payment. She ended by saying she would be getting back with my husband as soon as she had more details. A few days go by, (now 5 days away from surgery), and he still hasn’t heard back, so he calls the office again. The lady for the first time informs him that she usually doesn’t call patients with the time until the day before. (That information would have been useful all along.) The day before surgery arrives and still no contact. He calls the office around 10am and the lady replies, “Nothing has changed.” He states, “I haven’t received any information yet.” To which she replied, “Well, I have a confirmation next to your name.” Which implied that he had been contacted with the details. He them informs her that he has not been contacted by the office with any details. She condescendingly states the time and informs him not to eat or drink after midnight. He then had to press for the details about where the procedure would take place. The next morning at surgery check-in I accompanied my husband and learned from the woman at the desk that he needed to be registered with the hospital, which the doctor’s office should have either done or informed him to do. We learned after registration, that the hospital expected either the full payment up front (a couple thousand dollars), or at least about $100 for a deposit. If we didn’t do that, the hospital could refuse service. I’m glad I happened to have my credit card handy. All this to say, as newbies to receiving major medical care, the booking and payment process has been difficult to navigate, but not for lack of trying. I’m not sure what we did wrong on our end, besides being compliant and trusting of this system. On a positive note, we both appreciated Dr. Jones’ care and bed-side manner. I wish office communication was just as good.
