Dr. Kevin Draxinger, MD

I was evaluated today by Dr. Draxinger and I will give him a five star rating because he was honest and forthcoming about my condition. He managed my expectations well and presented my options professionally.

He saw my 88 yr old mother in the emergency room. He was so patient with her morphine and age induced confusion. She had cracked 3 back ribs and had a spiral femur fracture with a butterfly something. He explained every step and issue as well as answered every question and really educated us on what would happen after surgery too. Rehab, staples out in 2 weeks, possible pneumonia and how to encourage her. He stayed with us as long as we wanted him to at the evening room visits. He encouraged her to cooperate, eat, and do the breathing exercises. He watched her and got her doing it correctly. He was humorous and later said he was the sort of fellow you would enjoy inviting to dinner. After the surgery he told us the hood, bad and the ugly about the bones and surgery. Again answered all questions and shared his expertise. We would be more than relieved to know he would be our surgeon again.

I waited 15 minutes for him, was only with him for about 5 minutes, and left with a small diagnosis. He talks like injuries/patients are a bother to him, kind of narcissisticly. I would recommend someone else if you are an athlete.

He says one thing then does another which is confusing to patients

Does not listen well to patients. Does not offer good follow-up.
