More about Dr. Kristin O Burdick
After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in psychobiology, Dr. Burdick worked as an EMT in Boston, Massachusetts. She then attended Yale University School of Nursing where she earned her MSN. While at Yale she continued her pre-hospital care work, this time as a paramedic in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduation she worked as a nurse in emergency departments in New England, in a cardiac ICU and a surgical ICU, and spent four years as a flight nurse/paramedic with Life Star in Hartford, Connecticut. "That was an exciting job," commented Dr. Burdick. "It allowed me to combine my nursing and paramedic skills." Ten years after graduating from Mount Holyoke, Dr. Burdick entered The University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She graduated with honors in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. "Although I went to medical school to become an emergency medicine physician, rotations through different services helped me realize that I was most passionate about family medicine," said Dr. Burdick. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Vermont. Most recently, Dr. Burdick worked at Colchester Family Practice and as an attending physician for the Inpatient Family Medicine Service at Fletcher Allen Health Care. She also worked with the Fletcher Allen Health Care Palliative Care Service. "I entered the CVMC constellation in order to gravitate towards inpatient care and the evolving inpatient palliative care program at the hospital," observed Dr. Burdick. Dr. Kristin Burdick and her husband Dr. Tim Burdick have two children, Hannah, age eight and Theo, age 5. Outside of medicine, Dr. Kristin Burdick enjoys road biking, reading fiction, cooking healthy food, and nurturing her children.
