I sought an appointment with Dr. Green for a weight loss clinic he offers in which he teaches a nutrition class for $85. My initial appointment was for last Wednesday and his receptionist called earlier in the afternoon that day and rescheduled it for Monday (yesterday). I was told to be at the office before 4:20. As I was pulling in to the parking lot of the clinic I received a call from the receptionist (at 4:05), Connie, who informed me that I would be the only patient seeing the doctor that evening and he really preferred to teach a group and therefore would like to reschedule my appointment again. I asked her if she would explain my situation to the doctor and see if he would see me anyway since I had already taken off of work and was already there. She said, "The doctor will not be seeing you today." and hung up the phone. I went ahead and went into the office and introduced myself and asked if I could please speak to the doctor and explain the situation to see if he would go ahead and see me (the class is 2 hours long and it would be difficult for me to come back.) She continued to say "You are not speaking with the doctor. He has plans." I said that I would just wait if he were with another patient. She went off and accused me of being a drug addict and said she would have me arrested for being a drug seeker. I was so shocked. I couldn't believe she was behaving that way. The entire office staff was just watching her. I told her that her behavior was unnecessary and that I would like to speak to ANYONE but her. She again refused and said if I didn't leave she was calling the police. She stated the doctor had plans with his wife, Sharon Green, who is also the office manager, and if I had a complaint I could take it up with her. I explained that that was a different story than what she had originally told me. This experience kept getting worse. First, I was told that he would not see me because I would be the only patient in attendance, then she stated that he had made plans with his wife and that is why my appointment was being canceled. Connie said, "It doesn't matter. He's a DOCTOR! He can make plans and cancel your appointment if he wants." I'm sure at this point, I was just standing there with my mouth open in complete disbelief. HOW UNETHICAL!As if it weren't humiliating enough to seek out professional assistance for weight loss, I had to deal with this individuals complete lack of ethics. I am still in shock that this person is in the medical profession. Patients go into the office feeling vulnerable and come out feeling completely victimized by the staff. I will not be seeking any services from Dr. Green's office, nor will I be seeking any further assistance for weight loss. I had no idea that the medical community felt that those in need of weight loss assistance were drug addicts.
