Dr. Lee R Bittenbender, MD

I’ve see Doc on several occasions. In life all we want is a medical condition to be resolved. When I’ve seen Doc he did just that. I first saw him in 1993 and that was for dry skin around my hair in my face. This last time 2022 it’s for a wart on my finger. Results, if you truly want it, see Doc.

I saw this guy a few years ago. He did not make eye contact once the entire visit. Without even looking at the lesions I had he said he would charge me $150 upfront to remove any five of my choice. He does not bother with insurance companies. He was arrogant, dismissive, And did not indicate that he wanted my business

I saw this guy a couple of years ago. There are only two dermatologists in Lawrence so my choices are limited. I have several suspicious moles, so I made an appointment. The doctor came into the room, did not bother to introduce himself, and immediately started looking at every exposed area of scan I had with a magnifying glass. Without looking up, he asked why I was there. He said that he does not submit any mole removal to insurance companies but instead charges the paltry sum of $150 to remove any five moles of my choice. Because two of the lesions were very itchy and uncomfortable I agreed to this. He had me so rattled that I could only think of four and when I asked for a moment to think about it he just battled right out of the room and said something about not having any time to mess with me (my interpretation ). Not once in that entire visit did he look me in the eye. He was acting as if his time was way too valuable to be spending it on me, even though I was the one… doing the spending. He needs training in customer relations, but at his age I’m sure that wouldn’t work. My basic summary is he such a jerk. I really am unable to tell whether he has any knowledge or skill.

This guy is a salesman - not a doctor.

My son is a college student, new to Kansas. In the first week of living there, he developed fever and hives. This has been ongoing for over a month and he's seen four doctors. The last emergency room doctor sent him to Dr Bittenbender. He spent five minutes on my son and told him to take Claritin . He did not listen to the history, the meds he's been on, the fact that he requested a thyroid test as per his regular physician here at home (follow up needed, because he suspected a problem). This doctor quickly dismissed him and sent him on his way. It was a complete waste of time and money, and infuriating to me as a parent who is over 1000k miles away. He should not be practicing medicine.

I highly recommend Dr. Bittenbender to anyone needing a dermatologist. He has been my dermatologist for many years and I am more than satisfied with the procedures I have had. Dr. Bittenbender always spends plenty of time with me, answers my questions and does check-ups to make sure I am healing well. He will not do a procedure, in my case, cosmetic, if he does not think it is in my best interests and will harm me. He is a nice man and a great doctor and I am happy that he practices in Lawrence. His staff is very efficient and friendly and his assistants/nurses are very professional . They truly seem to enjoy working there so the office atmosphere is friendly.

Dr. Bittenbender was extremely cold to me. He made me feel very uncomfortable. I didn't feel as though I could be open and discuss my skin issues with him. I felt he had a holier-than-thou kind of attitude. I will drive the 45 min. to Kansas City from now on to stay away from that man.
