Dr. Leonard James Swinyer, MD

Sad to say, he has recently retired, but he took care of me and my husband for at least the last 10 years, until just a few months ago. He was very thorough and did a good job for us both. I am having trouble finding another Doctor as good as he was. I was in the health care profession long ago. He was great and went the extra mile. Thank you Dr. Swinyer

My visit to Dr. Swinyer was terrible. I've been to many dermatologist, including Dr. Woseth, in the past few years and they removed 4-5 growths on my face. Dr. Swinyer zapped me hundreds of times for no apparent good reason. My arms, hands, face and neck have hundreds of zap marks on them. I am very dissatisfied with what he did to me and would never recommend him to any one, even my worst enemy.

I too saw Dr. Swinyer many many years ago and also took my children to him when they were teenagers. I had reason to see him recently and I found the same pleasant, caring, knowledgeable physician that he has always been. The staff couldn't have been nicer to deal with. No one seemed at all concerned about my bill not getting paid. I question whether my insurance will pay, because fortunately it was a very simple diagnosis with a very simple treatment plan, but I was told not to worry about it, that they would let me know if it was not something my insurance covered. I would highly recommend Dr. Swinyer's office to anyone looking for a great dermatologist. I have worked in the medical field for years and in comparing I find him rated in the very top of his field. A plus is that he is so pleasant and caring!

He is a very competent dermatologist, but the charges for even brief screenings have become very high. I have very good insurance, and they will not cover the majority of his charges any more. To make matters worse, his office is now avoiding having to deal with the insurance companies by making patients pay for services up front and seek reimbursement for insurance coverage on their own. They have quite the racket going now, apparently. They charge you for the overhead related to office staff, but make the patients go after the insurance reimbursement on their own. Very, very disappointing. This is a good example of what is wrong with health care in the U.S.

Dr, Swinyer is a wonderful doctor and really knows his stuff. Very highly respected in community. Unfortunately, his office staff can be unprofessional at times (dismissive of Dr. Swinyer when he is not in the room) and his billing department/front desk employees have much to learn in regards to customer service. In addition, it seems, that Dr. Swinyer charges quite a bit more for his services than other (equally qualified) dermatologists in the area.
