As good as it gets. Dr. Schon cares. After two botched ankle replacement surgeries at HSS, Dr Schon worked miracles! He explains everything clearly.

Extremely Disappointed. It was clear he did not want to help treat my foot, likely because we backed out of surgery the last time due to the shady dealings of his financial manager. Still, we paid a substantial amount out of pocket more than copay for his medical opinion since he doesn’t accept any insurance in NY. He could have given us an honest opinion instead of making up tangential things about my diagnosis and giving us the wrong treatment plan that worsened my condition. NYU also put up barriers to care by wasting our time giving them images and notes which they never uploaded for the doctor. Very disheartened at Dr Schon. I used to think he had integrity and care about his patients. I was sadly wrong.

I took my daughter to Dr. Schon for a second opinion - she's had ankle surgery, another one was recommended and she lives in significant pain. Against my wishes, an X-ray was done - not needed - we had MRI films...Dr. Schon spent about 20 minutes with her and literally ended with "there's nothing I can do for you." Ok, fine...we were looking for a 2nd opinion and Dr. Schon seemed highly rated. We walked away discouraged and disappointed. Then I got the bill. $173.58 for the totally unnecessary and unwanted X-ray. And $268.61 for "outpatient new exam 45-59 minutes." Ha! I'm angry about the X-ray - that's a ridiculous price AND it was totally not needed. Further, to be then charged for an exam length and we didn't even get HALF that time?! I'm feeling ripped off. Providers...your patients are seeing more and more of their actual bills. It's harder to rip us off now and get away with it. Dr. Schon, I realize that you probably won't see this but you let us down. And for… those of you considering this doctor, be aware of the added expense - and in our case, we got no extra benefit. We've been around the block with orthopedics in various settings. This was by far our worst experience. So disappointing. Think twice before you go to the added expense and hassle of visiting this doctor - especially because he only sees patients at Mercy Medical Center...again another added hassle.

Dr Schon patiently and in depth answered all of my questions over a period of many months. I was very hesitant to proceed with flat foot surgery despite having a painful (and risky) fallen ankle and despite having done a lot of research to find the best possible surgeon. I need not have worried. Results have been excellent. Dr. Schon is truthful about risks but equally and justifiably confident in his unparalleled skills as a surgeon. I could not be more grateful.

Came a long way for nothing

Dr.Schon has fused my ankle and repaired my foot from a previous surgery. After 15 years of having an ankle fusion I am going to have my ankle replaced! In 2004 this procedure wasn't practiced unfortunately. He's worth the travel, the long waits in the office and the work as he doesn't rush when you are in his presence or care.

Dr. Schon is very talented surgeon. After my loved one saw over five doctors in two states, we were blessed to find Dr. Schon who immediately diagnosed his foot for immediate surgery. He literally saved his life. His foot was in extreme distress and the infection was traveling throughout his body. Dr. Schon’s surgery, follow up and on going treatment has been excellent. Highly recommend!
