Dr. Lisa Shawn Schatz, MD

Let me start by saying I'm not one to complain, so you know it's bad if I'm writing this about a surgery center. Please consider the following before booking any surgery with Lisa Schatz; the nurses are only available 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday) so you'll be without any care the rest of the week. They're playing catchup from the rest of the time they aren't in office, so it's rare you even get ahold of anyone other than the nice front office lady (which I'm sure couldn't be paid enough for all she has to do on Mondays and Fridays when people are freaking out trying to get ahold of the people that cut them up). I was concerned about infection week one. Sent pictures and was told by a nurse "they didn't think it's infected but let me double check and call back?" Not very reassuring.. upon no return call I brought this up in my two week check up. Though I'm not sure that's what I would call it because she barely looked at anything at all. I was told to just go home, that… infection rarely happens for my surgery, to wait 6 weeks and come back. I listened to my body, instead of ignoring it like suggested by Dr.Schatz, and they could tell from the picture I sent week one that I was infected then. By this point the infection had progressed so far I needed to be treated with IVs and antibiotics twice. I could've died. I'm still suffering from the complications my delayed healing caused due to Dr.Schatz's negligence. That doesn't even address the midevil surgery method she used.. the specialist I replaced her with was appalled by what she did to me.. she either left me torn or did an open hemorrhoidectomy. (So just imagine a wide open wound with nothing holding it together) Either way, it was unnecessary and made the recovery so much more painful, it also absolutely contributed to the infection. Now I understand no surgery is perfect and she may have had to do things she didn't expect to do once she got in there... but I received no explanation when I asked. She said she'd call me about a device to help with the nerve pain but never did.. For any woman considering her office please reconsider, as she destroyed my perineum and gave me no explanation why when I asked.. I now suffer from swollen painful lymph nodes in the groin area. In addition to having a terrible surgery experience and after care. When I arrived for surgery they didn't even have me on the schedule for the day. I should've taken that as my red flag to get out of there.. there was zero communication to the nurses caring for me on how to care for myself at home or what to do with the rectal packing.. I had to Google and call the hospital after arriving home on anesthesia with no information given to me that I even had packing. When I mentioned this to Dr.Schatz she said she was "sorry it normally falls out before you leave".. not a very caring response. I can't speak for the rest of the office but I would never suggest Dr.Schatz or her staff. I'm a young healthy 125 lb - 27 year old, it shouldn't have been so difficult to give me good care. Or should I say any care? It didn't feel like she cared at all.. I chose this office because the hospital is number four in the state and I was recommended to the office. I chose a female thinking I'd have a better experience but I couldn't have been more wrong. I was just another number to her.. or check in her pocket.. An afterthought: why are there no cameras showing the surgery from start to finish? How could we ever know if something shady is going on .. I feel violated that I was so destroyed down there with no explanation.. I'm hoping to help steer people in a better direction for their health, nobody deserves to go through what I went through.

I consulted with Dr. Schatz for my hemorrhoids . She was kind, considerate and very easy to speak to. She went over all of my options in detail and spent a lot of time with me. The office staff was friendly and they got me in right away. I would recommend Dr. Schatz to anyone who needs a Caring, skillful surgeon.

She is terrific!

I felt this doctor was not really interested in helping me to determine a diagnosis because I had been to two other doctors looking for answers to my condition and had gotton a different diagnosis from both of them. I was seeking another opinion as to what it could be. She acted like she did not want to step on any other Doctors toes, and could not offer much. It was a waste of time.

she did my haemorrhoidectomy and sphincterotomy and it took me almost 1 year to just heal.She did n't understand the problem and didn't help.When I visited her for a follow up visit and I told her that I am not healing she gave me other painful options.She is not good for surgery .If you are looking for any of the above mentioned procedures consider other doctors.

I have used Dr. Schatz on several occasions. What is so nice about her is that she is extremely caring, explains everything that is going on, and puts you at ease. Both my husband and I have used her and I have had surgery done by her. She is not rough like many of the male doctors and she NEVER has an attitude. I would strongly recommend her to everyone who wants a kind, caring, and extremely competent doctor.

I believe Dr. Schatz has very poor bedside manners.

Dr. Schatz saw me on one of my worst days after being ill for weeks. She decided that my physical illness was not real but rather just depression. I saw another surgeon who picked up on the problem right away and fixed it.
