Dr. Liza Partlow Lohse

Dr. Partlow is a compliment to her profession. I have seen here for some time now and come a long way since I started. I feel like she is attentive, open minded, and strikes the right balance of empathy and instilling encouragement/confidence to become stronger to complete the hard work. Like most people it is not easy to take that first step to see a professional, and I was nervous. She took that stigma away from me - I have no doubt more people would benefit if they put that aside. I have my progress and step backs but compared to when I walked in the front door, I have come a long way. I would recommend her to anyone. Thank you Dr. Partlow.

The review right before mine precisely summarizes Dr. Partlow and how she handles her profession - she truly has an abundance of empathy, understanding and passion to help others not only on a professional level but also on a personal level. I too (like the review before mine) had childhood issues that were extreme as well as in my teenage years. I moved to WA and she was the first psychiatrist I had ever seen. I was in my late 20's. I waited a long time because I was scared to see a doctor. After aIl, it was the best experience ever and best decision I've ever made. I continued to drive far to see her, even after I moved to another city in WA and I actually looked forward to my visits every time. I felt like I was going to see a good friend. Dr. Partlow is always professional and personable, even on a time crunch. The visits alone were like my dose of my medication for anxiety. Sounds silly, but so true. Moving back there soon and will definitely be a returning patient. I've been… through 3 others since her, and based on experience, I haven't found another Dr who does their job or remotely compares to Dr. Partlow at all. On a side note, since I left WA, in the last 5 years unfortunately been through bad times -I found my partners deceased body from suicide. I have more anxiety now than ever and the Doctors in this state think that I need to go meditate and don't need meds to balance the imbalance going on. They make me lol. (Literally) Dr. Partlow strives to understand the brain and you as a patient on a different level, she gives you the meds that are appropriate for your conditions after hearing you out. She doesn't try to ad 7 more and she doesn't try to encourage or involve religion or spirituality instead of medication or any other alternatives as I've experienced with others since her. However, if you initiate such a conversation, she would be on board and probably not opposed. I always wondered why she isn't a certified psychologist because how she engages with her patients she does it in a manner of a psychologist job. Unfortunately you only get 15-20 min with her because she isn't certified "on paper" to be there with you for an hour to get therapy as you do with a psychologist. Even so, the short visits with her helped me for the 2-3 years I was seeing her and if you are looking for medication and someone who doesn't trigger your pre-existing conditions, I assure you that she is the Dr to see.

I have a background of childhood abuse and trauma and have been seeing psychiatrists and counselors since I was fourteen years old. Since I'm now in my mid-thirties, that's over 20 years of seeing psychiatrists. So know that I speak from experience when I say a good psychiatrist is hard to find. This one actually listens, individualizes her treatment plans, and strikes a sensible balance between utilizing evidence based medicine to manage mental illness without over medicating her clients. She knows her stuff but is not patronizing, is well-organized, responsive, and very professional. I drive over 45 minutes to see her and I will keep doing so as long as my insurance continues to cover my visits with her. Highly recommend. If you are struggling with mental illness, this doctor will help you.
