Dr. Louis Charles Haenel IV, DO

Unfortunately, I am not sure that he knows the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. I assume he mostly sees Type 2 patients and groups us all together. Not a very knowledgeable physician, despite his arrogance and condescending tone. If I could put 0 stars, I would.

I do not recommend this doctor. He came across as arrogant and dismissive failing to listen about being symptomatic and not feeling well. Basically he asks if you are doing well, you say no, and then he says you’re doing great. Unreal! LISTEN to your patients and work with them. WORK on your bedside manner, Dr Haenel, because no one in their right mind appreciates being treated in a condescending way. A patient knows when something is off with their health and their symptoms are an indicator of this, it is your job to listen and do appropriate tests to figure out what is going on. This attitude will cause harm to patients if you are dismissive and don’t work to help them find the appropriate treatment. Shameful!!

Awful

I've never had a doctor treat me in such a condescending way before in all of my life. I'm desperate for help with my migraines and was literally crying for help. All I wanted was some hormone testing done and was told it was pointless to have tests done. I'm the one paying for it so what does it hurt to at least test my hormone levels to get a baseline? Even if it's pointless and it makes me feel better to know the results then shouldn't it be done? Other people get hormone tests done all the time. Why can't I? He told me to go talk to my neurologist about my hormones. I thought that's what endocrinologist were for? He had zero interest in helping me. I was just a waste of his time. I haven't been made to feel so stupid since I was a kid. I just wanted help.

My son has a rare metabolic bone disease and we were referred to Dr. Haenel once he was too old to see his pediatric endocrinologist. We waited several months to be seen. Dr. Haenel was very nice, but when asked about treatment, I felt like he guessed that it wasn't necessary instead of basic that on an examination and labwork. In fact, my son's labs had not been drawn in well over a year and he said he would wait another 9 months before ordering labs. Given the nature of my son's condition, I think this was somewhat negligent and did not allow him to make an educated decision about treatment. It was definitely not worth the long wait.

Dr Heanel is a great friendly dr. I have seen him on several appointments and he has always been easy to talk with. Several have bad reviews of him but I don’t see why. I was diagnosed with a large pituitary tumor and he has always been on top of my endocrine problems. Very very much like the doctor and the staff..

Just as everyone said he doesn’t listen to you and talks down to you making you feel like you’re a bad person there asking for meds. Seven years ago my test levels were found to be at 137 when they should be between 800-1100. My PCP felt that I needed to see a Endo so I was referred to him. Upon my first appointment he tells me that the other doctors didn’t know what they were doing and refused to give me test saying he wanted to give me Clomid to start my natural function again, which of you know anything about TRT that ain’t happening if you have been on for seven years. I was pressured to agree with him on that by his condescending beside manners. After leaving there while on my 2.5 hour ride home I called his nurse back and told her that I wanted to go with the same treatment that I had been getting with TRT. She said ok that she would get it ordered. I go hours later to pick it up and he hadn’t called it in but had called in Clomid. I refused the Clomid at the drug store. Just so… everyone knows I had bloodwork prior to my appointment and my test level was 99. So I wasted a day of driving, gas and money to see him. I guess it’s back to the drawing board and time to find a new doctor who will deal with my issues.

he told me i was depressed without checking into my background and prescribed antidepressants along with high blood pressure medication cholesterol medication and kept upping the dosage each time i went in addition to metformin. he refused to listen when i told him these meds were making me sick and basically told me not to come back if i didnt take all the meds and refused to refill my metformin prescription. he was condescending unhelpful and arrogant. the wait was 30 minutes and it was his way or nothing

I was sent to this arrogant, ill-qualified doctor by my family physician because of enlarged thyroid gland. He called me on phone and was nasty to me because my family doctor sent test results to him. He said he wanted to run jis own tests and sent me for a CT scan. Weeks went by and when I saw him he apparently had not even looked at results of the scan. Next visit I could not get to him on time due to traffic and he scheduled my next appointment for months ahead. If a patient needs to see his doctor he needs to see him more often than that. I am going to get another thyroid doctor. I do not like this one a single iota.
