More about Dr. Louise Huang

Welcome to My Doctor Online, a web site that my colleagues and I developed to make it easier for you to take care of your healthcare needs. On this site you will find answers to many of your questions about my clinical practice. Also included are several online features that will allow you to e-mail me, check your laboratory results and refill prescriptions. I hope you find its content informative and useful. ackground I am a native of Northern California and received my Bachelor's degree in psychobiology at UCLA. I started out as an aerospace engineering major and discovered that I didn't like math. But I am fascinated by understanding the minutia of WHY things work, and my interest turned from the physical sciences to the fantastic complexity of medical science. I was then transplanted to the East Coast to attend medical school at Albany Medical College, NY, and my OB/GYN residency at Stamford Medical Center, CT (Columbia University). I never learned to ski, and never got used to the cold. But I did love the experience! I was strongly interested in general surgery and had great experiences in my transplant and pediatric surgery rotations. In the end, my desire for continuity with my patients won over. Really, OB/GYN is the best field for those of us who love to operate and save lives, but who also wish to take the time to talk with our patients and help them achieve the optimum level of quality of life. I am a strong believer in comprehensively involving my patients in their own medical decision making. These discussions enrich our doctor-patient relationship and improve overall compliance of treatment. After my residency I returned home to Northern California. I worked in a private OB/GYN practice in Santa Rosa for 6 years prior to joining the good doctors at Kaiser Santa Rosa in 6/2008. I am married with 2 small children now and chose to join Kaiser to provide better balance between my career and family life. Since I have been here, I am pleased to say that the Kaiser Santa Rosa model of health care provides BETTER care overall to my patients. I have great access to resources for my patients including specialist and imaging referrals. I like the emphasis on preventative medicine to keep our patients healthy. I have been free to practice as I see fit for the benefit of my patients. I am excited to have made a great career choice in addition to having more time for my family! Welcome to Kaiser Santa Rosa, we are at your service! I chose the specialty of OB/GYN because I can have a relationship with my patient throughout her lifetime. This can include her routine well women care followed by the care of her pregnancy and delivery. If she needs gynecologic surgery, I can handle most routine cases myself and usually do not have to refer unless she needs an outside specialist. I love this continuity, and I think it gives better care overall. Roles and Responsibilities Minimally invasive surgery: specializing in hysteroscopic endometrial ablation and myomectomy, hysteroscopic sterilization (Essure), and laparoscopic surgeries including laparoscopic hysterectomy. Please review the EMMI links to learn more about these procedures or contact the OB/GYN dept for a consultation appointment.
