Dr. Ludwig Gutmann, MD

This doctor doesn’t listen to you and discounts what you say as not real. He thinks if he has not experienced it then there is nothing beyond that.

He diagnosed my father with ALS and did not provide ANY follow up care. Would not prescribe him any medication to try and slow down the progression. He thought he was so confident it wouldn’t work but ALS affects everyone differently so he couldn’t know for sure but just wouldn’t try. His lack of empathy and bedside manner took away all of my father’s hope of living with this disease. Because of this and the unwillingness to try any medication to slow it down in the 3 months since diagnosis my father has progressed rapidly. If you have ALS stay away from this man!

If u can get help somewhere else. GO. There may be individuals that could help. They are totally focused on filling beds My stay was horrific There is no real care at this facility. Check boxes & get the patient out ASAP so they can bill someone else. I will never go back.

Dr.Gutmann saved my husbands life.18 years ago my husband was barely functioning.He when to Morgantown University and saw Dr. Gutmann who put him through a very intense and throw exam.He found out that he had Myasthenia Gravis. He could barely walk,talk,swallow,or close his eyes.This man done everything he could do to save his life. Thank you Dr. Lud Gutmann. We are from Elkins, WV

Dr. Gutmann was the only Dr. who was able to diagnose my daughter 3 years ago with Lymes Disease & GBS. He was literally a life saver for her. I will never be able to Thank him enough.

I saw Dr. Guttman for a neurological evaluation of the tremors in my hand. Since my father had Parkinson's, I was concerned that I also had it. I had cared for him the last 8 years of his life that he had Parkinson's dementia similar to Alzheimer's. Dr. Guttman was very professional and had great bedside manner, very informative and personable. He assured me that I did not have Parkinson's that I had what is called an essential tremor. Being a nurse, I was impressed with the ease of talking with him and he answered all my questions. He explained the course of treatment and how the disease may progress. I would highly recommend Dr. Guttman for anyone with neurological problems.

I went to see this doctor for a second opinion. He was probably the rudest doctor I have ever been to. It was in 2007 when I was diagnosed with CIDP (chronic neuropathy ). I was very sick and at my lowest with low weight, my hearing was bad and I felt horrible. Didn't like doctors anyway, but thought he couldn't be that bad, well he was. He asked me how I got all those wrinkles, talking about my face. I was mortified, then asked if I was deaf bc I didn't hear him when he asked me to turn around as he watched me walk down the hallway testing my balance. All I could think was I couldn't wait to get out of there. It was a three hour drive back home and I cried the whole way bc of how rude he was to me. All I can say is that he did confirm that I did have CIDP and started me on IVIG treatment. I would NEVER go back to him. Very bad experience.

I was taken back when he came in to the examining room with his diagnosis. Believed my condition was totally mind related even thou I had a positive test result from another lab. Belief in other labs results zero. Tended toward a vit B12 deficiency and neuropathy. Came in complaining about my difficulty walking and my drooping right eye lid, left without talking of medication and only another appointment in 6 weeks. I could not believe I was not given medication to at least help with my double vision. All in all I was very very disappointed with the UIHC,
