Dr. Luis Arias Urdaneta is an attending rheumatologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology, he practices general rheumatology and has a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis and inflammatory myopathy. After earning his medical degree from Escuela de Medicina Luis Razetti in Venezuela, Dr. Arias relocated to the United States to continue his medical education. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, FL, where he spent an additional year as chief resident. Dr. Arias distinguished himself during his residency, garnering the Howard Kane Resident of the Year Award and the American College of Physicians Chief Resident of the Year Award. He went on to Harvards prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital to complete his fellowship in rheumatology before returning to Mount Sinai, where he is in full-time clinical practice and also teaches medical students and residents. Dr. Arias is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology.
