Dr. Maor Katz, MD

I have seen several psychiatrists in the Bay Area and can say from experience that Dr. Maor Katz is the best. My experience with Dr. Katz has been so positive. I finally feel like someone is in my corner. He genuinely cares about the health of his patients and listens to them.

Dr. Katz' approach to dealing with or confronting mental illnesses is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is not your standard therapy that never seems to go anywhere. He is a rock star in it. He combines it with medication management but the focus is definitely not on the medications or some check list of symptoms. I wanted the full CBT experience to confront my fears head on but still do so with kindness and support. I was able to get all that and more with practical new tools and ways not just to cope but to actually overcome my issues. He is five stars in my book.

I highly recommend Dr. Katz to anyone seeking expert opinion on psychiatric medication treatment and therapy. I started seeing Dr. Katz after many years of anxiety attacks. I was depressed, couldn't sleep well and unhappy. Dr. Katz is super friendly and down to earth. He is easy to talk to and I feel like I can say anything to him without being judged. Unlike all the other psychiatrists I've seen, Dr. Katz took me OFF of some of the medications I was on which were prescribed by other Drs and didn't jump to prescribe more and more. That turned out to be key in the treatment of my anxiety. It took a while but now I can't even remember the last time I had an anxiety attack.

Dr. Katz, is an expert in CBT and is one of the most exceptional practitioners I have met. His help was practical, wise and beyond my expectations. He is warm and kind as well as methodological. His warm and caring approach together with the practical tools he uses helped me conquer my depression and anxiety when I thought I will be conquered by them.

I will pay money for a good doctor. Katz is not a good doctor. Just flat out horrible. His rate far exceeds his ability. I pay more now for someone far more qualified who also possesses interpersonal skills. Don't waste your timetime or money on this guy. He is the epitome of keeping patients in therapy to keep his business going. A good doctor does not need to use the slimy tactics that Katz utilizes.

you get what you pay for and it's not cheap.

Did not pay attention to any thing I had to say. Requested different doctor at el camino outpatient rehab - rehab refused so I left the program for one that let me choose my doctor. Within a few weeks he was fired from el camino hospital. Myfriend, who was still in the program, could not reach him to get the prescriptions he needed from dr. Katz after he left el camino, despite $400 per visit. Dr. Katz is condescending, lazy, incompetent, and his price is ridiculous.

The doctor does not communicate charges ahead of time. He then charges you ridiculously.
