Dr. Rybstein was born and raised in Brooklyn He attended New York University for college during which he was in the honors program and graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. During college he served as a teaching assistant for several courses including chemistry and organic chemistry. He also worked on various research projects in chemistry focusing on the potential medical applications of molecules which can bind to and sever DNA in specific locations and published several articles in journals including the Journal of Inorganic Chemistry.

After college, Dr. Rybstein returned to his Brooklyn roots and attended Stony Brook University Medical School. During medical school he developed an interest in cardiovascular disease particularly with an eye toward preventive cardiology. Following medical school, during residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Dr. Rybstein furthered his interest in preventive cardiovascular disease by participating in several research projects involved in further delineating specific risk factors for ischemic heart disease. This research resulted in several publications in nationally recognized journals, such as CHEST Journal, the official publication of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Rybstein further distinguished himself in a program of over 50 residents by being awarded the prestigious resident of the year award during his second year of residency. He was also elected to the mini-chief program to help further educate more junior residents.

During residency Dr. Rybstein was accepted to St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan for a cardiovascular disease fellowship. St. Vincents closed due to financial issues prior to the beginning of his fellowship and Dr. Rybstein served as an Internal Medicine attending for two years in the New York area prior to beginning a cardiovascular fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital, a clinical campus of Stony Brook University Hospital, in Brooklyn. During fellowship Dr. Rybstein cared for patients having the spectrum of cardiovascular issues. These included but were not limited to ischemic heart disease, non-ischemic cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension and lipid management. During fellowship , Dr. Rybstein completed his certification exams in nuclear cardiology as well as the physician's vascular interpretation exam. Besides for his interests in the full range of cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Rybstein also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases. Specifically, he specializes in treating the full gamut of venous diseases including spider chronic venous insufficiency. He is proficient at sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, laser ablation.
