Specialties

Dr. Marci M Lesperance has the following 2 specialties

  • Pediatrics

A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

  • Otolaryngology

An otolaryngologist is more commonly referred to as an ENT, someone that can treat medical issues you may be having with you ears, nose, or throat. This is a physician who is specially trained to diagnose and treat conditions of the ear, nose, sinuses, larynx (voice box), mouth, throat, head, and neck. These doctors treat patients through both medical and surgical means. For instance, an otolaryngologist may treat an obstruction of the nasal passage, caused by malformation of the nose, through rhinoplasty.

My family had a horrible experience with Dr. Lesperance, the ENT surgeon.

My family had a horrible experience with Dr. Marci M. Lesperance. Dr. Lesperance recommended a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for our 8yo autistic daughter, due to diagnosed sleep apnea. My wife and I both took the day off of work for the surgery, purchased hundreds of dollars of special food to prepare, and also put many plans on hold for the projected week of recovery. The morning surgery was going to be delayed, and Dr. Lesperance suggested that we reschedule the surgery since we "weren't sure if we wanted to do it anyway." My wife and I told the doctor that she must have us confused with another family, because we wouldn't have taken the day off and prepared for it if we didn't want it done. The doctor then said that the surgery probably wouldn't be done until 4 or 5 in the afternoon. We didn't let that scare us, because there really wasn't a better day to have the surgery done, since we had taken the day off and were prepared. We were told that our daughter couldn't have food less than 6 hours before surgery. Our daughter hadn't eaten since dinner the night before, so we had her eat breakfast, finishing before 10:00a, allowing for a 4pm surgery. When Dr. Lesperance found out that our daughter had eaten breakfast, the doctor said that she wouldn't do the surgery at all. Dr. Lesperance had recommended the surgery enough to put our daughter through the torture, but it apparently wasn't important enough for the doctor to have to work past 4:00 PM. Dr. Lesperance also lied to the anesthesiologist, saying that she had told us that if we fed our daughter breakfast that the doctor whouldn't be able to operate at all. Dr. Lesperance had never said that. We were told that there must be a 6 hour minimum wait between eating and operating, and that it was the anesthesiologist's call. Dr. Lesperance refused to do the surgery even if the anthesthesiologist okayed the time between eating and the surgery. Dr. Lesperance apparently wanted nothing more than for our autistic daughter to not eat anything for 24 hours, and to make my family wait around all day.
