Dr. Mari Nakashizuka, MD

Mr. Nakashisuka is a wonderfully skilled surgeon. I thank her and her team for the excellent work and care I received.

First office visit. Very clean, everyone was nice and helpful. Dr. spent time answering my questions. She had a cough, reportedly from allergies, so it limited some of the conversation, she left the room several times in coughing fits. Otherwise it felt like my issues were fully addressed, things explained well, my questions answered, and helpful staff to schedule the procedure and provide advise.

A good surgeon but her bedside manner could be improved She is very rude to the nursing staff and heard talking in a negative manner about staff This does not represent a professional manner.

I am very grateful that Dr. Nakashizuka had been my mother's surgeon. Being an RN in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit for over 20 years I have a keen sense of what I want in a surgeon. From research,I knew of Dr.Nakashizuka's training and experience, but little else. The moment we met her, when my elderly mother saw her for the first time with the diagnosis of breast cancer, we knew that we had made the right decision in choosing Dr. Nakashizuka. Immediately, we felt her caring, notably, her exceptional gentle approach and genuine concern. During her thorough explanation and time spent with our family we never felt rushed. It was less frightening to go through surgery because mom knew she was in good hands. She said, "I know I'll be OK. I really like her." The after care was just as good, gentle and always thorough. All said and done, Dr. Nakashizuka is our choice for any woman needing breast surgery. In our minds, she is the best you will find on Oahu.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mari Nakashizuka since 2000. She had given my first diagnosis when I had breast cancer at a young age of 35 and was my surgeon for 2 follow-up surgeries. She is very caring and truly concerned about her patients care. She reviewed with me all of the options available, and provided me with excellent referrals to other doctors needed for various follow-up care needed in my treatment plan. Upon my diagnosis I was very scared and unsure of what to do and so followed all the recommendations she had given. The team of doctors I went to and oncologist she recommended provided excellent care and education on my condition making it less worrisome for me as a patient and I am truly thankful for all of it. I recently returned to see her this year after having some abnormal findings and again received the same excellent care as the first time. As a surgeon she did an excellent job on my lumpectomy surgery leaving a scar that is hardly visible at all, in fact… everytime I see other Doctors or radiologists they often ask who did my surgery and comment that she did an excellent job because the scar is so small and can hardly be seen. Sometimes it is hard to get through on the phone when calling in to schedule an appointment, and the wait time in the office may be a little long but that is due to the fact that she comes highly recommended and her staff also is on the line making appointments for patients who need follow-up care or to schedule them for surgeries. The office wait time is because she truly takes the time to give each patient her undivided attention to their needs . Thank you Dr. Mari Nakashizuka for all you've done for me and I'm sure so many others . I am a breast cancer survivor for over 10 years now !!

Dr. Nakashizuka is a very knowledgable doctor who now specializes in breast cancer surgery. She is a courteous doctor who is pretty business and focus oriented. Quality of care is excellent- she recommended a lumpectomy and she was able to remove my mothers entire tumor and she had felt her lymph nodes previously and guessed that it had not spread there- and she was correct! Overall, an excellent doctor- probably one of the best IF NOT THE BEST in Hawaii!

I was happy to have Dr. Mari Nakashizuka as my surgeon. Being a woman, she could relate with women emotionally, their worries and distress. I felt very comfortable with her honesty and recommendations. Now, years later, I have found that my baby sister will need a biopsy and I quickly recommended her via another sister to contact Dr. Nakashizuka.

Dr. Mari Nakashizuka is an excellent physician. When I was diagnosed with breast-cancer, my husband and I were terrified until we met her. She was very sensitive and caring. She explained things very well and gave me a package of information which really helped me understand about breast cancer. Great doctor, great surgeon.
