Dr. Maria Elena Bendana, MD

I don't know who let this person become a doctor or "care" for members of the military or their families. She went out of her way to be rude and unhelpful. She brushed off every concern brought to her and assumed so many falsehoods about my wife during her appointment. My wife waited a month to be seen by Dr. Bendana and she honestly would've gotten more compassion or care from a school nurse. I am not writing this review to be rude like her, but rather to help anyone who thinks about using Dr. Bendana for care in the future.

This was the worst doctors appointment I have EVER had. Dr. Bendana was so rude and spoke down to me from the moment she walked in. She was cold, rude and completely dismissed the concerns I came in with and decided to instead, press for unnecessary tests without asking any personal questions about my health habits. She drilled me with questions for the entirety of the visit, insulted me by demanding an STD test, and brought up a weight gain of 6 pounds several times. *background info: I have been married for 5 years and had a full pap 3 months prior. I am also still in the average weight range for my height and weight. I went in for a prescription refill but she refused to acknowledge my previous diagnosis and demanded that I be tested once again before giving me the refill. I understand being thorough but the way that she questioned me made me feel attacked and subhuman. I felt as though she was looking for issues instead of actually listening to me and addressing the… concerns that I came in with. The nurse could see and feel the tension and tried to smooth it over after the doctor left by saying that "She's under a lot of pressure and isn't normally like that." I'm sure stress was a part of it but its no excuse to question my character and shame me as a spouse.
