I set up an appointment with this doctor about six months ago and was told at the time that I should expect to wait at least an hour to see her. After that I had emergency surgery and ended up with some complications, and missed the appointment. (I wrote it down for the wrong day initially and didn't check up on it.) The office called to tell me that I missed the appointment. I apologized and told them I had it written down for another day and asked if I could reschedule. I also explained that I had recently had surgery and was on some medication, so may not have been thinking clearly. The office told me that I could not reschedule, and since I missed my appointment, the doctor would no longer see me. I was pretty taken aback by this and not sure if it came from the staff or the doctor. I understand it can be a burden to a doc when a patient misses an appointment, but I thought my "punishment" was pretty harsh. (I got the impression the the office wanted me to beg a little...but… I've got other health issues to deal with at the moment.)
