Dr. Maria Masferrer, MD

After the first appt where she scolded me for trying to keep my child occupied while his caseworker and our Targeted Case Manager reviewed his entire horrible case history with her (in front of him) for 2.5 hours, I was demoralized and concerned for my child's future care from her. But since we haven't finalized our adoption yet and are bound by what is offered by Community Partnership for Children, she is our only option. (She also scolded him for not being able to sit still during the 2.5 hour recap of his entire life. This discussion detailed every hospitalization he endured, every arrest of his biological mother, every placement change, and on and on. I wouldn't have been able to sit still and relive all that either. Plus, that's why we were there. To get help.) Today we went for our four week check up and she refused to adjust his medication because he hasn't gotten any referrals for bad behavior at school or been suspended. HE HAS AN IEP. On that iep the accommodations are… meant to help him be successful in the classroom while having adhd. He moves frequently, is given breaks, preferential seating, verbal and visual cues when needed to be redirected. His teacher doesn't just let him go crazy then write him a referral because he can’t control himself. Is that what the dr wants? He gets all kinds of special accommodations so that he’s successful in a classroom. I will be seeking another doctor for my child as soon as the adoption is finalized and may God have mercy on the other children in foster care that this woman "treats."

Dr. Mastered is an excellent Physician who shows her patients compassion, dignity, and respect. I haven't seen Dr as kind and intelligent as her in many years.

I feel like I'm being antagonized every time I'm in front of her. You'd find better treatment from a wall with a face painted onto it, because nothing is better than this so called 'care'. Do yourself a major solid and find a different doctor.

Dr. Masferrer would never think outside the box when it came to treating my child. If the case is difficult, Dr. Masferrer would rather not listen to the parent and follow through with a treatment that wasn't relevant to the symptoms. If your child suffers from a basic diagnosis of depression or ADD/ADHD, then Dr. Masferrer is your doctor. Use extreme caution!
