Dr. Maria Teresa Tam, MD

I had a great experience with Dr Tam and her staff. She is efficient and still took the time to discuss my options.

I had such a good experience with this office, really nice staff and personal. Pap smear was quick and comfortable, and then I got my blood drawn. After experiencing excruciating pain after a couple of days, I called back the office and they simply told me that it wasn't related to the blood drawn and that it should go away in a couple of days. They were dismissive about my pain and symptoms and didn't seem concerned. A week later, still had pain and had to go to urgent care to be put on anti-inflammatories and to go to physical therapy for nerve pain. This office was great but they handled this situation very poorly and I don't think I'll go to this office again.

Dr Maria Tam is not caring at all. She made me wait for like 30min and saw me for 10min or maybe less and it was my fist appointment with her. She does not care

I went in for an IUD check because I've been experiencing negative symptoms. First of all, I wanted close to an hour and a half in the waiting room because she was running late. My visit was 5 minutes long, she didn't answer any questions, and told me she wants to do a swab to check for an infection. She SHOVED the speculum in without warning causing me extreme pain and discomfort and did the swab. Later I was billed for 8 labs, about $1000 to my insurance, where I still owed $60. She is a scammer, she didn't tell me what she was doing the swab for and that she was running 8 tests on me. What a horrible experience and a horrible doctor.

I've seen both Dr. Tams and each experience (3 total) were the same. They both showed little care and empathy. The end of each consultation ended with their hands on the door knob trying to leave as I was still asking questions. This is the first review I've left anywhere, so it should show how strongly I've been affected by their behavior. If you have any sort of problem, find another doctor! Only go here if you are 100% certain you don't have any issues/questions. I can tell many stories that back me up on my review. This one is my favorite- I once called the office to ask a question. They were friendly and said that Dr. Tam was on vacation, but I can message her, which I did. Her response made it seem that I was completely out of line for messaging her (I never marked it as urgent or said it was) and was extremely rude. Here is a part of her response, which I copied and pasted: "I have very minimal internet access while in the bush walk during the safari. I had to go into town just to correspond with you these past 2 days during my vacation. I will not be back in the US until Sept. 11, 2017. Please defer all further questions until then." If Dr. Tam is reading this- my apologies for interrupting your African safari by a simple message asking if you can refill my Diflucan. Hope this helps!

Dr Tam is a really good doctor and a nice person but in two instances, I have been in pain and she laughed and made light of it. I was even called a "baby." It could just be a nervous laughter but it didn't feel good at all. So much so that as much as I like her, I've been thinking about going to a new doctor for quite a while.

Dr Tam and her staff were so patient and kind with my mom. My mom is elderly and had to have a emergency procedure, she was detailed and communicated every step of procedure to patient and family. I thank her for relieving my mom's pain and reassuring me that all shall be well, surgery was a success.

Dr. Tam and her staff was friendly and very personable from my first appointment. Dr. Tam took the the time to explain everything to me regarding my condition and asked several times if I had any additional questions. I was thoroughly impressed to the point of changing doctors and traveling a considerable distance to visit Dr. Tam. The staff is very friendly and welcome each guest upon arrival.

I really like all the electronic capabilities of this practice. I was reminded by e-mail and text about my visit. When I checked it, very nice Mac computer at front desk & very nice receptionist! Dr. Tam brought in her Apple laptop to get my history. The exam itself was easy and comfortable. She's so nice and explained everything she's doing to me.Then I checked out and given a unique ID # to check my PAP result which I checked out in 2 days. Amazing!!!

I was a new patient and found Dr. Tam through ZocDoc. She has great reviews on the website so I thought she would be good as my new gyno in Chicago. I recently moved from NY and I really don't know the city much. Dr. Tam is more than pleasant. She also explained everything to me. Her new office is beautiful and very classy. All computerized from the check in to the check-out. She also gave me access to my medical records and I was able to look up my PAP smear on-line.

Very pleasant doctor. Put me at ease right away. I was referred to her by my primary care doc and will start referring my entire family and friends to her practice.

I have been seeing Dr. Tam for about 5 years and my experience has been great. She has a very caring bedside manner and provides me with thoughtful and comprehensive recommendations that I have found really helpful. I have tremendous confidence in her diagnostic and treatment opinions and would recommend her to anyone!

I was referred to Dr. Tam for surgery and everything went well. She is an extremely talented and professional doctor.
