Dr. Marita Jean Michelin, MD

Very smart and considerate

I simply cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Michelin! After previously being seen for severe bronchitis at another hospital's ER and then by my own doctor less than a week earlier, I unfortunately found myself even more ill. When I literally was having so much trouble breathing I felt like I might pass out, I knew I needed to return to the hospital, but this time I went to the ER at Newark Wayne County Hospital instead. I am so very glad I did! Dr. Michelin patiently listened while I painstakingly related the timeline of my bronchitis and how I was actually now much worse rather than better after receiving healthcare at another ER, and even by my own regular doctor! By this time I was not only frustrated, but frankly very worried about my health. Dr. Michelin took the time to explain in detail why I was more ill and what treatment was required. She examined me at length and took the time to talk with me about a potential chronic health condition which I might have that could… be impacting both the severity of the bronchitis and my inability to recover from it...in a nutshell, she told me my breathing/lungs sounded to her like I could have COPD, which no doctor including my own had thought to share with me up to that point! After three breathing treatments and some other medications, I was able to leave the ER finally feeling more confident that I was receiving the correct treatment for my illness. I was even more grateful to find a doctor who seemed to genuinely care enough to not only listen to their patients, but to also treat them with nothing but the utmost respect, compassion and understanding. To me those are qualities every patient deserves to expect from their physicians, but unfortunately they are also qualities which are increasingly more difficult to find nowadays. I actually was so impressed with Dr. Michelin that I intend to see if there is an internist that shares her philosophy with regard to patient care that she would recommend, since I intend to switch primary care physicians after this experience. I cannot thank Dr. Michelin enough, and I hope she knows how much of a difference she makes in the lives of those she treats!
