Dr. Mark Clifford Ballard, MD

I saw Dr Ballard after my regular doctor recommended surgery. I was nervous about surgery and when I saw Dr Ballard he made me feel at ease. He discussed medical and surgery options and did not place any pressure on me to make a decision. I felt he listened and cared about my concerns. After having time to make a decision with my family, I scheduled surgery with his office. They were so helpful and I didn't feel as nervous as I have with other doctor's offices. Dr Ballard was able to perform my surgery with the laparoscope and I was back to work in 2 weeks. My sister had the same surgery with her doctor and it took her almost 2 months before she could go back to work. Now my sister goes to Dr Ballard and she wishes she would have changed doctors earlier. Dr Ballard and his office are AWESOME!

This man is the most compassionate and caring doctor I have ever seen. He reviewed everything in my record and talked with me about my condition. He was so thorough. I went to him for a second opinion and after my appointment I realized that he was going to be the person I was going to have do my surgery, not my regular gynecologist. I needed someone to pay attention to the details and didn't feel that my previous doctor of over fifteen years was doing that. He and his office staff made me feel that my health was important. With the surgery, I was nervous, but the surgery went great and my recovery was half that of my sister's (she had the same surgery). Definitely the best gynecologist in Rapid City.

Dr. Ballard was my OB/GYN from 2001 to 2009, when I left the Black Hills area. If I still lived there, he would most certainly still be my doctor. His compassionate bedside manner, his level of professionalism, and his attentiveness to my medical issues were great. He made me feel at ease and was always a good listener (I can't stand a doctor who isn't really interested in what I have to say). I would recommend him to anyone seeking a great OB/GYN.

Worse Doctor I have been too. If you are even slightly overweight he will make you feel like you should never have gotten preggo! He does not listen to your concerns or your opinions. I have terrible white coat syndrome and had high blood pressure everytime I went to Ballard. I would check it at home (my machine was calibrated to theirs) and it would be fine! he would not listen! Just be careful of this doctor there are a lot better ones out there!
