If there was a minus 1, that is the rating I would give Dr. Perlman. I am in a permanent brace going into my shoe and up to my knee because of the so-called doctor. I had a 5 plus hour surgery on my left foot the day before Thanksgiving in 2013. The diagnosis for the procedure was Posterior Tibia Tendon Disfuction (PTTD). This was suppose to be a mirror image to the right foot problem that I had a successful surgery on a few years before I had my left foot done by Dr. Perlman. I showed Dr. Perlman the op-report and all information from the right successful surgery, and paid myself for a pre-op evaluation by the doctor that had done my right foot. At the time Dr. Perlman was with Kaiser and I had regrettably had Kaiser insurance. I wanted the first doctor from the right foot to assist but that was not allowed by Kaiser. Supposedly, the head of the orthopedic department was to assist Dr. Perlman with my surgery. The post-op was terrible. I kept being told my foot was not healing and it would take a little longer, over and over again. I had to keep having more MRI's, casts, and excuses. The post-op appointments went past the allowed time of my insurance so I was being billed. Finally, I went for several second opinions and was sadly told my foot would never be right without more surgeries. I even went to the head of the department who supposedly assisted and he acted like he had never assisted nor know anything about the surgery. I later found out that shortly after my surgery Dr. Perlman went on a medical leave from Kaiser due to his hands and feet going numb if he stood for any length of time. Hmm, could that be why my foot was in such bad shape? My heel wasn't lined up under my leg, several parts of my foot was fused and on and on. I tried everything I could to let others know, but Kaiser protected him and kept billing me. I had to have all of the hardware removed from my foot because so much was wrong and have another "corrective" surgery outside of Kaiser. Needless to say, I dropped my Kaiser insurance. That did not go well either because of the damage done by Dr. Perlman could not be fixed in one surgery. My options, after consulting two other physicians was probably three more surgeries and no guarantees, or try a brace. Thank goodness I have found someone that could make a brace that is cumbersome but I am mostly without pain with the brace. I have wanted to write a review sooner, but Dr. Perlman was supposedly not practicing after his medical leave after my surgery, and now I really can't find for sure where he is practicing. He is listed with St. Joseph, a place in Aurora and still lists a Kaiser phone number. But, if you are thinking of have Mark H. Perlman do your surgery, DON'T. This seems to be the only way to reach out to people needing care, because of all of the "red tape" I could not get any support from Kaiser or thru Medicare to warn others.
