Dr. Mark Stephen Myerson, MD

I was a nurse at mercy with mark. I resigned as he expected the nurses to write and sign prescriptions. He never wrote DC instructions post op. He verbally told the recovered patient in PACU. The nurse was expected to write down all he said. And then he’d walk away. Never signing anything. His fellows performed all the surgeries while he sat in a chair in the OR. Despicable man. Very arrogant. Happy to hear he lost his liscense.

I went to this so-called "doctor" in 2005 for a subtalar fusion. He was so full of himself, mistakingly thinking he had charm, and used this technique to perpetrate a lie. I had a broken talus bone from a 45 foot fall onto concrete and prior to this fall I had been a tennis player and athlete. Dr. Myerson promised I would be back on the courts in 3 months. After his "operation" and subsequent recovery in a wheelchair for 6 weeks, I was barely able to walk. After extensive physical therapy I was never able to lower my foot to the ground. Knowing ahead of time, my left and right ankle movement would be compromised, I should have had the up and down movement which after his operation, I did not have. I had been told my previous physicians that wearing a boot for several months would have taken care of the situation but Dr. Myerson lied to me and made false promises which i naively believed. His license should be revoked PERMANENTLY!

I could not agree more. He was a complete jerk. I only learned that my surgery was a failure, when he put up the X-ray, and explained the non-union to a bunch of gawking med students. I was desperately trying to ask questions. I was obviously distraught. I was just finding out that my 12 hour surgery 30 days prior was a failure. But, when I tried to ask him anything, he told me to stop interrupting, and turned back to his med students. Plus, I woke up in surgery, and was begging for them to amputate, because I couldn’t tolerate the pain any longer. He told me to “ Shut up, and be still, because if I squirmed, and ruined the work he had done, he wouldn’t do it again.” Yes. Really. He was mad at me for being awake and moving while he was cutting my heel wide open!!! ( I had a severely broken calcaneus) I mentioned it to him,and he just blew me off, like he didn’t hear me. I know that he did! I should have sued, but I had been in hospitals having over 23 surgeries for… almost 2 years, and was week and fragile. Also, bonkers on the many pain meds he prescribed. (He would have prescribed them for ever, and he said as much) He had no concern of my getting addicted, which I did. And, I had to go to an expensive 30 day rehab to recover!” Maybe it’s not too late to sue. I’m going to call my lawyer tomorrow. He should be hung, not simply being stripped of his medical license. He is an emotionless, cold and heartless man. He really is the true Dr. Evil.

Dr. Myerson did ankle surgery on me in 2002 and was wonderful. Had it replaced again in 2016 and it was a disaster. Acted like he didn’t care at all. Sent me home to NC with foot infected and incision busted open ended up having 5 graphs after returning to NC. Don’t know what has happened to him. Terrible experience

Ruined many lives

Dr. Myerson operated on both my feet for extremely painful bunions. It was a few years ago and my surgery was very successful—no problems. He was very professional and answered any questions or concerns I had regarding my surgery. Follow up visits went so smoothly. I would highly recommend him—wonderful surgeon!!

This doctor is the worst, arrogant, doctor ever who will make your life a living H—L and won’t care don’t set yourself up he ruin my foot and my life

He had his license suspended which is why he left Mercy. He was arrogant rude and dismissive . He allowed non licensed individuals to do follow ups and order tests. This is something Mercy has kept hidden well. The hip replacement center is a pure assembly line. Ciotola averaged 7-9 surgeries a day ,3 days a week. It is why before and after care is nonexistent. I developed some serious complications and had to have s tevion aurgery. I did not allow him to do any more surgeries on me or at Mercy. I was given a drug I am allergic to because they felt it would be fine( it wasn’t). I was transferred an hour away 4 hours after my surgery/ sitting up in a van. Horrible treatment.

I must have went to 10 orthropeadic doctors for foot pain in both feet all over VA. None could find the problem. Must have damaged the feet pounding ice with my heels (in shoes). Anyway, other doctors put me in casts, ran numerous tests, cortazone shots, orthotics, exercises, therapy etc........Dr Meyerson did one test - a painful one - nerve conduction study and found the problem on the first try. It was: TARSARAL Tunnel Syndrome, in both feet. Was going to lose my job and everything. He said lets just do surgery in the worst foot first and see if that gives you enough relief, or we could do the other foot also later if needed. Well, I am about to retire now and made it through with just the one foot surgery. Praise God! He was world reknowned. Can't praise him enough. He is what you expect from John Hopkins. First rate . . . He only stayed on so long because so many people came and needed help. Very competent, and will be missed.
