Dr. Mark Stuart Ruttum, MD

I had a lazy eye my entire life. I was so blessed to find Dr Ruttum! He saved my life! Every eye doctor I have come in contact since my surgery have expressed how he has done a great job! I pray I never have any other issues with my eyes but if I or my children do I will definitely do whatever it takes to find get an appointment with Dr Ruttum. I can't thank him enough.

He surrendered his medical license for excessive surgeries. Need to say any more??????

He could have braced my daughter and explained what he was going to do before giving her eye drops. My daughter was afraid to go back. H intelligent, but he might have decades of experience and be very simply isn't very good with children. According to our current ophthalmologist, he mis-diagnosed her as having amblyopia but our daughter has 2020 vision. He also pushed for surgery from the first visit when less invasive methods will be more effective.

Felt VERY rushed and did not get any straight answers. left the office feling very confused and quite upset about the whole experience. I am sure he knows his stuff....but I will be going to get a second opinion elsewhere.

My appointment was what I expected from a doctor that is so in depend quick and to the point. I brought a detailed list of questions that he did go thru with me but they were just quick answers. I did not walk away warm and fuzzy but I did feel that he knows his stuff and that my child is in very good hands. That is what is most important to me.

I do not doubt his skill and knowledge, but he is often very rushed and the waiting room time is often double the time you actually spend in the room with him. I know he tries to help as many kids as posisble, but I think he forgets that as parents these are our babies and their vision- we are scared, worried, have questions, want to know his conclusions and opinions on change and how to proceed. He is very to-the-point and then leaves the room often leaving us feeling like we don't know any more than we did when we arrived. He knows more, we just don't.
