- Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiologists are doctors who specialize in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of conditions related to the heart and blood vessels.
A patient may be referred to a cardiologist if he experiences symptoms like chest pains, shortness of breath, dizziness, or high blood pressure. The physician will then evaluate your symptoms, take your health and family history and your weight. The cardiologist may order additional diagnostic tests, such as an echocardiogram, X-ray or blood tests. If necessary, the cardiologist may also call for a cardiac catheterization - a procedure in which a small tube is inserted into or near the heart that can take pictures of the heart's activity, or relieve blockage.
Once determining whether there is a heart condition, a cardiologist will treat a patient through cholesterol management, cardiac rehabilitation, and fitness. If surgical intervention is required, like open-heart surgery, a cardiologist will make that determination, but a cardiothoracic surgeon will perform the procedure.

Was put on meds and broke out all over in hives. My whole body was covered in solid hives. Was due in the next day for a follow up but called to ask about the hives and possibly getting in that day. Said they would call me back and 5 pm rolled around and I ended up having to call them. Said I needed to get into my primary physician to have them check it out. They should have called me earlier and I might have been able to get in to see my primary. But now I'll have to wait til tomorrow anyway. The nurse practitioner was rude. Beginning to think this doctor doesn't know what he's doing and hi staff is even more incompetent!
Dr. Weiss is a rare package....he is caring, compassionate, skilled and knowledgeable. An outstanding cardiologist, he has stepped in on a number of occasions when my husband has had urgent heart-related issues and his regular cardiologist (a partner of Dr. Weiss) was not available. His sense of humor, great beside manner and highly responsive nursing staff is an added bonus! I would recommend this doctor with no hesitation!
Baylor McKinney assign this doctor to me while in the hospital but did not tell me he was not in my network. His charges were grossly unreasonable - even charging $170.00 for a five minute office visit. Before seeing him you might want to insure he is in your network and get his charges prior to your visit... they do not post them or divulge them up front - you will have to ask!
