Dr. Max Aaron Shapiro, MD

Very few doctors receive a 5 star review from me. I am one of those people who has become so jaded by the countless number of doctors I’ve seen who have not been able to help me. I was all but ready to give up on ever finding help, when I decided to see Dr Shapiro. From the moment he met me, he listened attentively, took notes, and said he didn’t want to keep ordering all the same tests all the other doctors had bc he was certain we’d get the same results. Instead, he ordered newer and different tests. And he found causes that no one else had ever found before. He didn’t give up and he helped me find a solution that no other doctor has ever been able to find. He has actually continued to make himself available to me between visits. If I have an issue I can email him through the app and receive a response directly from D Shapiro! I have never met a doctor who is this communicative, helpful and good at what he does. If you have GI issues, I definitely recommend that you see Dr Shapiro!

I came back from Cancun vacation with something that completely messed up my system. Rather than going to my primary doctor I decided to go to a good GI to get it diagnosed! Haha, it was only a dream. Make a long story short, I ended up asking him for 3 different tests to be done. Every time I had to call to find out the result. They did not give correct instruction to Quest! I had to get involved. Dr. Shapiro was clueless of what is going on with me! He was Ok when I Googled and asked him for any tests! He could not tell me what is wrong and told me to go to another doctor!! I spend 4-5 weeks with him and then he had no idea what is wrong!! It is amazing after going to those universities, you are clueless about a disease! I do NOT recommend anyone to see him. He simply does NOT care and does not know what your problem might be!

In my opinion, there are several qualities that every good doctor must have: compassion, understanding, empathy, honesty, competence, commitment, and respect. Dr. Shapiro has these qualities in spades. From my first visit with Dr. Shapiro, I felt a connection with him. I felt as though Dr. Shapiro was invested in my health and care. He was attentive. I never felt like I was "just another patient." Dr. Shapiro made me feel like a priority each time I met with him (and I continue to see Dr. Shapiro). Dr. Shapiro was thoughtful in his explanations; I trust him immeasurably. He truly wanted to make sure I understood exactly what he was saying. If you are looking for a doctor whose medical knowledge is comprehensive, who treats the whole person, and who takes the time to be compassionate yet direct, then Dr. Shapiro would be an excellent choice. We should all be so fortunate to have a doctor like Dr. Shapiro in our lives. I am glad I do.

I have seen Dr. Shapiro for a colonoscopy and 2 other visits. he is a caring and knowledgeable Doctor...he listens and then advises...his expertise and education is to be respected . I would recommend him with confidence.

Dr. Shapiro is absolutely outstanding. He is knowledgable, thorough and kind. I am very thankful to have him as my physician. All of the staff in the endoscopy center were very nice.

I had an esophageal dilation done yesterday at Emory/St. Joseph's Hospital by Dr. Max Shapiro. Dr. Shapiro was very courteous and professional during the procedure. I was very pleased with his explanations and [he] even checked with me several times (at the hospital) to ask if I had any questions concerning the procedure or the problems I had been having in swallowing pills and some foods. He stayed and talked to my husband and I concerning the results. The staff at the hospital were really superb. I will definitely use this hospital again without question. I was able to get a quick appointment at his office. He ordered a barium swallow test to determine the exact problem. One day after the swallow test he called me personally to give me the results and suggested the next step was to have the dilation. I appreciated the step-by-step process rather than what so many other physicians do when seeing a patient for the first time by ordering many tests all at once. I did not wait in the… office longer than 15 minutes or so, even though the waiting room was very full. To save time I filled out his questionnaire on the internet before I arrived. His staff was personable and knowledgeable. I do not know how successful this procedure will be at the moment since I just had it, but I firmly believe that Dr. Shapiro knows exactly what he needs to do and when. I will continue to see him for other gastrointestinal issues that may arise in the future. He is an exceptional physician in his field and I have tremendous faith that he will guide me in the next steps of my condition.

I liked Dr. Shapiro very much. During my consultation with him he did not hurry me and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Also, all of his staff were very kind and helpful. The waiting time for the colonoscopy was minimal and the actual colonoscopy was done on time. I had a very good experience and would recomment Dr. Shapiro to anyone.

I was very afraid and unsure of what I was walking into. The nurses were all very patient in answering my questions and helping to put me more at ease. I was treated with respect as a human being and not just a number. Dr. Shapiro was kind and attentive and his assistant, Tuquilla, actually held my hand when I asked her to. I pray God will continue to bless this staff as they help others walk into the unknown.
