Dr. Michael James Bohn, MD

Dr. Bohn was the worst psychiatrist that I’ve ever had. He was easily frustrated, communicated poorly, and wrote a prescription that devastated my health for weeks.

Had many medical problems. He did all the talking and did not gather up the pertinent medical data for proper diagnosis of me. He took his medical notes on a post it note pad. He had me come back 4 times to get a simple non threatening medication prescription. I had to listen to his stories about cooking and the noble prize winners for over an hour each visit and then he blamed me that the appointment went over. I didn't get to say a word! I wondered how he could properly diagnose me with accuracy without assessing my thought processes, past history experiences, and current level of depression, thought processes and coping skills in place without letting me talk. I am glad he helped many but I was disappointed. Felt like a druggy (and I am not) trying to get my medication for post traumatic stress disorder in a locked down methadone clinic with 6-8 policemen running around. I only went there because my insurance was accepted there. May he keep helping those in need, but I… did not need this kind of service of facility to be treated. For the very bad cases he might be good, but for the mild non life threatening medical people like myself, I was not impressed. I was glad that he did see me. Am very thankful for that. God bless his helping people. The back staff room was so very condesending with one woman who took a bus at 5 in the morning to come across town to see a doctor at this clinic. She arrived 15 minutes early. The back girl came through and told this older lady that her appointment was canceled by the woman counselor. This patient was angry and asked for a new appointment. Without a word, the worker walked away into the back rooms. The patient kept calling for her to help her set up a new appointment. The worker finally came out and said that the patient was too disruptive and called security to escort her out of the facility. Then the worker mumbled under her breath, "I never let myself forget where I work and with who I work with." How insulting to a sick woman to have that said in her presence. She had a real chip of pride on her shoulder as she went back to her office to play loudly her Christian music. I was deeply saddened at the mistreatment of this older woman and her traveling so far on bus only to have to leave because her appointment was cancelled. The heads that be, need to look into this clinic. The staff puts their lunch and coffee on at 8:15 until 9:00 am before even seeing any patients. So the whole clinic starts off late because the staff has to get their food all set up for the day. And then each office has it's own kind of loud gospel music playing to cause an chaotic environment along with that stupid tv playing loudly in the waiting room. And then the appointment girl, oh it's her gossip let me call all my girlfriends and tell them about my weekend before I take care of the patient's who are sitting there and listening to every non business conversation. Is there anyone monitoring this facility, or are the workers in charge and say what is appropriate? They start at 8:00 get paid from 8:00 and should be at their desks working and working with the on time patient's immediately. Isn't this a federally fun financed clinic that have protocols that must be followed?

Dr. Bohn was by far the best doctor of any type I have ever seen! Love that guy.

Excellent, the best psychiatrist around!

Loved this guy. I've been homeless and have been poor my whole life. Dr. Bohn was so kind. Knew his stuff. Spent more time with me than any other doc I have ever seen in over the past 30 years. He was great in helping me get back with my family. My sister looked him up and he won awards from NAMI for being exemplary. I think the person who said he looked down on the person may have been a jerk. Dr. Bohn was so even tempered even with lots of other poor folks, homeless ones and really irritated and rude people. I wish he could be my outpatient doctor, since he is simply the best.

Loved this doc. Great listener. Kind. I have schizophrenia and he was the best doc I've seen in 20+ years, better than the best of the 6 others I have seen in hospitals and in clinics. Don't believe the angry person who wrote bad stuff about Dr. Bohn. He was great with me and my girlfriend, my sister and my dad, very kind and super good at being respectful and caring. I know he won't give addicts meds that are addictive. I suspect that's why the reviewer who said bad stuff got angry and lashed out with words. This is not just a great doc, but a very kind man.

Dr. Bohn is selectively rude and condescending to certain patients, namely those with paranoid schizophrenia, which he apparently wants nothing to do with. He treated me as if I'm an annoyance from a lower social class. I am dismayed and could not be more sarcastic about all the positive reviews he gets from people in "higher social classes".

Really found him helpful. Caring doc. Smart. Funny. Best doc in any specialty I've ever seen.

I was really in bad shape, drinking all the time and really depressed, desperate. Dr. Bohn gave me hope. He was so kind, so supportive and so dedicated. He was the first doctor to really take a careful history and to provide an accurate diagnosis for me. He explained everything and was great at answering my questions. My only complaint was that his outpatient practice was closed and he could not continue to see me after my hospitalization. He is a really, really great person and the best doctor I have ever seen. My whole family felt he was amazingly good. He was sensitive, ethical, and very caring. I was reading this site and saw someone who said they felt he blew them off in the emergency room. I really doubt that. He was great not just to me but to many other patients I saw in the Intake Department at Aurora Psych Hospital. Everyone I talked to spoke highly of him. I wonder if the person who wrote that report was confusing him with another doctor.

Dr. Bohn was great, certainly the best doctor I have seen, and I have nothing but the highest praise for him. He was humble, friendly, kind, listened exceptionally well, was warm, cared about me and gave me great care. And he was really funny, putting me at ease. He was great with my family members, too. I know he only works in a hospital that has no ER, and another doc I know who knows him well confirmed that he never works in ERs and hasn't in the past 16 years, so I think that the person who complained about him in an ER setting is either lying or else mistook him for another doc. I recommend Dr. Bohn to anyone.
