Dr. Michael Castro, MD

I was looking for a primary doctor and researching online found Dr Michael Castro! The information I found about him sounded good and he had experience. Just what I was looking for, so I called. Once on the phone with his office I find that Dr. Michael is no longer taking patients but rather teaching so had to make an appointment with another doctor named Dr. Elfat Rumman. I arrived for my appointment and had to wait and hour. My first red flag happened while in the waiting room. I could hear the girls in the office complaining about the drama going on between the doctors. How they didn't feel the girls were being fair with how they were distributing the patients. The girls were upset and using foul language. It really made me uncomfortable and made me feel like they were more about the money that the care of the patient. Then when I finally got into the consultation room I had to wait another 30 minuets. The young girl who came to take my blood pressure etc. was very… sweet, but her hands were dirty! Horrid! In fact as she brought me into the room she had to clean up from the previous patient! But she left the garage which had no lid over flowing! It looked really bad. Why I stayed I do not know. The doctor arrived and I just couldn't take her seriously. I could not get over her garlic breath. It was such a distraction for me. Just one thing after another. As I made my follow up appointment the girl was eating chips! I got home and told my husband it was as if I had traveled to the third world for my doctor appointment and was never going back. The standard of cleanliness and professionalism was just that bad! But that is not the end of my story! Now I received a bill for $172! I called my provider because it was just so off from what my usual charges have been with my doctor visits. It seems Dr Rumman decided to charge me for a 60 minuet consultation, when I had only spent 10 minuets with her! My provider explained there was nothing they could do. That it was up to the doctors discretion. I called the doctors office and they did lower the bill by $50 but I say "if you are going to charge those prices you should be providing a high end experience" . At least clean up the office! One more thing that seemed odd. The bill did not have Dr Rumman anywhere on it, only Dr Micheal Castro name. That makes me wonder. Can they only bill under Dr Micheal name? and if so why!

Takes the time to analyze your problem and then explains his diagnoses in detail followed by a solution.

I loved Dr Castro. He was with me while at Royal Oaks Assisted Living. I wish he was still here and would recommend him to anyone. He cares about his patients and takes the time to learn about our history.

Dr. Castro saved my life. Once was diagnosed with a blood disorder if it wasn't for his concerned and attentive manner I would not have gone through with the additional testing as I did not think there would be need for it. The additional testing did show that I had stage 4 cancer which is how I got the other blood disorder to start with. He was always supportive in my wanting to try different methods in addition to chemo. I never felt slighted or that my ideas on how to handle my own health was foolish. I am very grateful for dr. Castro his deep commitment to his patients and their well-being

Medical assistants are rude and abrupt for both dr Castro and mathew. This office is only worried about money not welfare of patients

Prior to Dr. Castro I had 3 other surgeries by two of the "premier" foot/ ankle ortho's in the valley - one was the exclusive cash pay guy. Both missed a small bone fragment that he caught on a simple ct! "If you don't know to look for it, you'll never see it."Four months later I'm the best I've been in FIVE YEARS!!!Plus, he's got a great personality. Staff are terrific. Cannot say enough (and no, I don't work for him, nor am I related to him, like lots of other docs have folks do). First time I've ever left a review for any doc, ever!

The worst bedside manner I've ever experienced! I also experienced issues with misdiagnosis and incomplete diagnosis resulting in prolonged delay in proper treatment and a lot of anxiety!
