Dr. Michael Hurst has the following 2 specialties
- Internal Medicine
An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

Her have been through 4 different Pediatricians in the Tracy area since our son was born last summer (2010), and we could not be more pleased with our experience with Dr. Hurst. He takes the time to explain everything and our son loves him. He left a busy practice with a local medical group (we believe) because of the "patient mill" mentality there. They seem to be more interested in packing as many appointments as the can in an hour, than actual patient care.Dr. Hurst left to open his own practice, (we believe), so he could be in control of how much time he spends with each person he cares for.We love the guy, and I know you will too.
Dr. HURST was working in Sutter Gould, Tracy when I took my kids to see him. My younger child was 2 yrs. old when Dr. Hurst asked me to get blood work done for him. I did the lab work the very same day and was asked to call back about the results. I called back 2 days later and was told that Dr. Hurst would call me if there was any problem with the results...and of course, no news is good news from doctors! I was assured that my baby was fine. It has been over a year now and when I took my (now 3 yr old) child for his annual checkup, the current doctor tells me that my child is ANEMIC! And that it was diagnosed a year back by Dr. Hurst! Now my child is on double dose medication because he didn't receive the proper dose when he was first diagnosed. This kind of unprofessional doctor should be BANNED from practicing medicine as they are playing with the lives of people.
