Dr. Michael Paige Massey, MD

We have seen dr. Massey for many years, he reattached retinas and now does annual checkups. No small talk, but extremely caring and thorough. We think the world of dr. Massey and hope he never retires!

First visit was very professional. I had to call my doctor to get a better understanding of what was going on. After that, I have found that Dr. Massey has a very dry humor - which I have come to love. He knows his stuff and I trust him completely with his surgical skills. Once he opens up, he is easy to talk to and will chat on occasion. His office is very busy and he doesn't always have a lot of time. Anytime, I have had a problem, he calls and sees me as soon as possible. I have gone into his office on the weekend when my eye showed signs of detachment. He is very proud of his family and has proven to me that he cares about his patients. Take time to know him, he is interesting, funny and amazing.

Generally acceptable; not that warm and personable; all business; you are just a number

I was a new patient and arrived thirty minutes early to do paperwork. I had to wait four hours to see the doctor and that was only after I told the nurse that people that came in hours after I did were going in to see the doctor. She said my file was taken out of rotation and she was sorry. I told her if I didn't get to see him next, that I had to leave and come back another day. She put me in a room and he came in forty minutes later.

1st appointment 1:40, called to exam room at 5:20. no communication from staff about delay. 2nd appointment 1:20, called to exam room at 3:20. patient is my elderly mother-in-law. dr. massey does not seem to realize that i am present at the appointment to assist with her healthcare decisions and acts almost preturbed if i ask a questions and not just the driver. he is the only physician i deal with who does not include me in discussions about our parents visits. bedside manner could use some improvement.
