Dr. Michael Donald Purkis

He is the worst doctor ever. I have had an underlying medical condition going on for some time now. He dismisses me very single time. I go in for an appointment regarding my conditions, only go in for lab work and never see him. I talk with the staff at the front desk more that I have talked with my doctor. He doesn’t show any interest or concern with what is going on with me. I never get called when my lab results come back or to schedule a follow up appointment. You have to really advocate for yourself, if not, nothing will get done. He makes you think its stress, anxiety, or your just down right crazy. Save your self from a huge headache and stay away! This is down right the most unprofessional individual I have ever experienced in healthcare.

He just 'fired me' with a letter in the mail because I didn't choose the course of treatment he recommended for my osteoporosis. I called 2 separate times this past week due to extreme side effects from the flu shot. Both times he had his staff tell me to go to the ER. I wanted to see my Primary Care Physician, not sit and suffer in an ER for 7 hours and receive enormous bills. I never did think he had a good 'bedside' manner which is why I mostly saw his NP. So in a nutshell, he refused to give me care. I am beyond speechless. Horrible, horrible Dr. who does NOT CARE about his patients.

No follow-up and wait time is always way over. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

I took my elderly father for a appointment. He had two previous appointments and the office called and canceled twice one apt because the Dr was running behind another one because their system was down! We showed up for his appointment and updated his insurance information with the front office and we put down that he had a l new secondary insurance. The front office came back and said they didn't take his secondary insurance and they wouldn’t be able to see him? I asked if they could just bill his primary insurance and we could pay any co-payment if the primary insurance didn’t pay. They said No! I was so concerned because this was a follow up apt for my dad diabetes and asked if I could at least get his information for the appointment so I would know if he would be ok until I can find another Dr. They refused. I asked to speak to the office manager and they said she was busy and with a patient. I asked for records and they said they would have to charge us. Long story short they don’t care about their patients and seem like there more concerned with money. Please save your time and money and find a Dr and office staff who care!!!

I have gone to Dr Pukis for many years and have absolutely no complaints. He's always been kind and a great Dr. As far as having to wait for appointments sometimes, you all need to be more patient when going to a doctor. I've worked in doctors offices, and you all have no idea of the constant demand put on the office workers. Many skipped breaks and constant stress.

If you tell his M.A. you are disappointed in his ability to get a RX to your pharmacy timely and/or you are NOT happy with him; beware he will drop you as a patient!!!!

I had a first appointment with Dr Purkis. He didn't say much wanted my medical files from previous doctors. Scheduled me for return visit in 2 weeks. Returned for follow up waited for over an hour after nurse takes vitals. I left because he was a no show. The staff wasn't concern either must be routine for him not showing.

He's a definition of corporate tool. He laughed in my face, treated me like I was stupid. He showed no interest at all in my problems. He didn't listen and he told me the issues I was having didn't exist. I don't get how this person got his medical license. He belongs in a morgue not a doctors office. How many people are going without treatment right now because he's lazy and doesn't care? What did I pay for? I'm really confused. He gave no advice at all. I told him I was having panic attacks, he blew it off. Fibromialgia? It doesn't exist. Sciatica? Suck it up. What a doctor....he needs to be regulated by idiots that pay him.

I am a little surprised to see the negative reviews here. I've had several issues that required consultation, and I never have waited more than five minutes when I have an appointment, though I do always try to schedule early in the day. The staff is friendly and efficient and I have had lab results back same day or next day. Dr. Purkis hasn't been "warm and fuzzy," but he has worked with me to figure out what's going on, and he's never been condescending, in fact, he's been the opposite. While I would love to have someone more warm and fuzzy in addition, lol, I prefer a doctor who will listen to me and take what I say about my own symptoms into account when trying to figure out a diagnosis. He's also willing to work with other doctors to get the "whole picture" and I appreciate this approach. I was recommended by a family member, and now my entire family goes to Dr. Purkis. I don't think there's a higher recommendation I can offer than that.

I have been with Dr. Purkis for about 15 years. He is a very personable doctor, and has always taken time to explain things to me. I was shocked by some of the reviews on here. I have had opposite treatment at this office. The staff is very friendly and professional, from the scheduler to the M.A.s . I even really like his P.A. and N.P. I have recommended him to my family, and my mother and sister see him as well.

We've been patients of Dr Purkis for 15 years. He is kind and caring and does respond to messages and requests. Even though Dr Purkis may not personally call back, the calls and requests are always taken care of in a reasonable time frame. If you have any testing done the nurse will call you with your results, and now you can access all your information, results and appointment info online through their secure website. My daughter is away to college in NY, and Dr Purkis still takes care of her medication, and follows up with her needs. In the years I've been a patient, Dr Purkis and his nurse practicioner have been professional and sympathetic, and willing to work within the patients means. I am always recommending Dr Purkis to people I know, and haven't had negative feedback once.

This "Doctor" is the worst experience I have had. He is careless, indifferent and unprofessional. The staff in this "clinic" totally unfriendly and inefficient. I would not recommend Purkis to my worst enemy, his attitude says "I hate my job".

My husband and I have been under Dr Purkis' care for 18 years. Dr Purkis diagnosed my husband with an eye problem which needed to be treated by a specialist. The specialist was amazed that a general practitioner had diagnosed this issue himself without any tests. We can get appointments quickly, he is personable, has a competent staff and a clean office. Our kids, now see Dr Purkis as well and really like him as well. This family has no plans on seeing any other doctor and do recommend him.

I was surprised by the reviews already posted because I have found Dr. Purkis to be kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. His staff I would also rate highly. I haven't been with him long but intend to continue seeing him.

I have been with Dr Purkis for about 12 years, every time I have arrived in the office ( ON TIME ) I have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes past my appointment time. I recently was prescribed blood pressure meds that I took myself off of two years ago and was not in my budget. After contacting his office to change because of cost he refused to do it without me coming back in and paying another co-pay. I asked if he could wave the co-pay due to finical reasons and the reply was NO... I'm sorry Dr Purkis but I don't think you have your patients care in mind I feel you are ALL about the money, your visits are short and very impersonal. I hope you make the money you intended to make. If you want to just come out of pocket with your hard earned cash and be referred to another doctor this is your guy.
