I had a Shouldice repair for my right inguinal hernia about a 1.5 months ago. Dr. Reinhorn was upfront and honest about the procedure, that recovery can be harder than mesh at first, but he did a fantastic job with the surgery and I am fully back to normal activities! Dr. Reinhorn was always punctual, answered questions thoroughly, and clearly cares a lot about his patients and his work. He's certainly the best hernia surgeon I could find. Despite opting for the more painful procedure, I took nothing more than Tylenol and Advil for 6 days before stopping pain medications altogether, and I have no residual pains from the area. Also, during recovery, I found his video series on YouTube to be quite useful to know what is normal. I highly recommend Dr. Reinhorn, especially if you are looking for a surgeon to perform a Shouldice repair in the US.

I was referred to Dr. Reinhorn and the team by my occ health group. I was able to get in to see him in a timely manner and from the first time I met him and Lauren, I knew I was in good hands. I ended up having multiple hernias but that was not an issue for Dr. Reinhorn, this is his specialty. My surgery was scheduled at NWH, also a 5 star experience. Everyone associated with Dr. Reinhorn is profession, courteous and comforting. We had an inguinal hernia repair five weeks ago with the Shouldice method. I'll start by saying Dr. Reinhorn is everything you want your surgeon to be: calm, confident, and communicative. In our initial consultation, Dr. Reinhorn's expert knowledge and willingness to answer all our questions stood out. He truly listened and explained the surgical procedure thoroughly, alleviating anxiousness. On the day of surgery, Dr. Reinhorn's confident demeanor provided a sense of calm. His team was well-coordinated and professional, ensuring my son was comfortable and informed at every step. We followed Dr. Reinhorn's post-op plan, and recovery was smooth and quick. The pain was manageable with Advil/Tylenol. We diligently iced, and he had very minor swelling/ bruising. He walked every day post-op, gradually increasing activity. Anyone considering inguinal hernia repair is in expert hands with Dr. Reinhorn. It's rare to find a surgeon who combines a personal touch with renowned surgical skills, but that's exactly who Dr. Reinhorn is. We highly recommend him.

My experience with Dr. Reinhorn and his team was exceptional, I highly recommend them! When I found out I had an inguinal hernia my PCP referred me to a general surgeon in the same group practice. I did not get a good vibe and researched the topic. My research led me to Boston Hernia and the team of Dr. Michael Reinhorn and PA Lauren Ott. There were well over 100 5-star testimonial reviews vs. less than 10 mediocre reviews where I had been referred. The fast recovery open procedure that was available as the recommended option intrigued me. I read the reviews and scientific studies, as well as listened to the common-sense videos available on the website. I became convinced that I wanted to entrust myself to a surgical team that does around 500 procedures a year vs. a general surgeon that does far fewer using a laparoscopic approach with general anesthesia. I am writing this review five weeks post-surgery and I have been back to normal activities, including the gym for the past three weeks. The procedure went very well – I was out of the hospital in 3 hours. Tylenol and Motrin was all that I needed for a few days for mild pain. I started walking as recommended and within a week increased to 10,000 steps a day as part of my recovery. Five weeks post-surgery I have no pain and barely a scar from the procedure. If there is any negative aspect to report, it is that Dr. Reinhorn no longer accepts Medicare; however, this was explained in detail when I made my initial appointment. I understand the reasoning and chose to move forward – and I am very happy that I did.

I am a retired 70 year old anesthesiologist who lives several hundred miles from Boston Hernia but am very glad I chose Dr. Reinhorn for my hernia surgery. Surgery was done under local with IV sedation at the SDS Center and everything went perfectly. My wife drove me the long trip home after surgery. My pain since surgery has never exceeded 3 on a scale of ten and I never took anything for pain after the day of surgery. I averaged walking about 5 miles a day easily. At one month, I feel great and have resumed all previous activities and exercises. In my opinion, Dr. Reinhorn provides the best hernia surgery available.

Dr. Reinhorn and the entire Boston Hernia Center staff made my first inguinal hernia procedure seamless and successful. Dr. Reinhorn was considerate and took time to answer all of my questions. He provided a clear explanation of all aspects of the procedure and his surgery was outstanding.

I have had four hernia operations in last forty-seven years, each with a different surgeon. The first was in 1976 and I was in hospital for five days. The most recent was done by Dr Reinhorn at NWH and from the time I left my house to the time I returned after surgery was less than five hours. I had no pain and did not even take a Tylenol after returning home and the scar is the smallest of the four. Dr Reinhorn is the best.

I recently had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery with Dr. Reinhorn. Everything went exactly as planned, no opioids required and the recovery was straightforward and exactly on the timeline described by Dr. Reinhorn and the Boston Hernia website. I am just a little over a month out of my hernia operation with Dr. Reinhorn, and I cannot say enough great things about him, the staff at Boston Hernia, as well as the medical staff and anesthesiologist at Newton Wellesley Hospital where I had my double hernia repaired. Dr. Reinhorn is not only a phenomenal and gifted surgeon, he is also a gentleman and is compassionate and empathetic. He took the time to answer all of my questions and reassured me that everything should be straightforward. I talked to many friends who had hernia operations at other hospitals with other surgeons, and they all warned me that I would need “at least a week off” from work afterwards and that I would be in excruciating pain. Dr. Reinhard told me that he performs hernia operations in a slightly different way that minimizes the discomfort afterwards- and he was 100% correct! I was actually ready to go back to work the next day, but I took it easy for the next few days anyway since I had already planned on taking the time off. But I had virtually no pain or discomfort at all. Everything has healed beautifully, and Dr. Reinhorn and followed up with me to be sure everything went well. I then went back to all of my other friends and told them that if they ever need another hernia surgery they should drop where they went to previously and go to Dr. Reinhorn instead. Cannot believe I am saying this about a surgery: But it was actually a wonderful experience.

I had inguinal surgery yesterday with Dr Reinhorn. After having a hernia for 10 years, and meeting with Dr Reinhorn in March, I decided it was time for surgery. The procedure went very well, Dr Reinhorn, his staff, and the hospital staff at the surgical center were extremely helpful. Everything was explained to me very clearly. I am less than 24 hours out from surgery and so far I have mild/moderate discomfort which was expected and explained to me beforehand. I am able to use the Tylenol/Motrin to help with the discomfort. I have no need for opioid or anything stronger. I highly recommend Boston Hernia for this type of procedure. No general anesthesia. Local anesthetic with deep sedation allowed me to feel fine after. I had my inguinal hernia procedure six weeks ago with Dr Reinhorn. I had had the hernia for 2 1/2 years so it was pretty large. Everything went well at Newton Wellesley. Their website is informative and answered many questions. My appointment with Lauren and Dr. Fullington was very thorough but personable and reassuring. My wife and I left feeling comfortable and confident that we had made the right decision. Dr Reinhorn performed the surgery at Newton Wellesley Hospital and everything was first class. All the personnel and medical staff were professional and efficient. There was never any "down time" and the entire process was run like a well-drilled team. I checked in at 7:00am and was out by 12:30pm. Prior to the surgery Dr. Reinhorn came by to speak to me and my wife and explained exactly what he was going to do. He answered all our questions and the bilateral hernia surgery was completed without anything unexpected. There was no grogginess or pain. I only took acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Excellent!

I am 78 years old. Dr. Reinhorn recently did my inguinal hernia surgery and I an very pleased with his work and the entire process at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Great Surgeon. Dr Reinhorn is very knowledgeable. He addresses all your concerns and questions. He Is an expert in this area of surgeries and is up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques. I had an inguinal hernia. My surgery had no issues. I had no postop pain and did not need any kind of pain medication. I took all the care doctor provided and was working and driving the first week and resumed my activities in 2 weeks.

Dr Reinhorn and Lauren were great performing my hernia surgery. No one wants surgery but they get an A+. The surgery was done at Boston Out-Patient Surgical Suites. Much better than a hospital. From start to finish it was an excellent experience.

I had put off addressing my hernia for some time, but its progression made it clear I had to do so. Dr. Reinhorn was recommended to me by a colleague who had also been a past patient for an inguinal hernia repair.
