Dr. Michael W. Yeh, MD

I wanted to take the opportunity to write about my and my family’s experience with Dr. Yeh as he has been such a blessing in our lives. In 2014, I was diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer that had spread into my neck and upper chest. Thankfully, I had been referred to Dr. Yeh. From the moment he came in the room to discuss my case with me, I was put at ease. He explained all his recommendations, including the recommendation for surgery. I knew of his extensive surgical training, and, paired with his confidence, I felt very comfortable with him performing my surgery. I underwent surgery and had a lot of cancer removed. During the surgery, Dr. Yeh found that a tumor had grown entirely around my laryngeal nerve. He could either completely cut the nerve, rendering me unable to speak, or he could spend a significant amount of time scraping the tumor off of it. Given the situation, he felt confidant he could effectively removed the disease by scraping it off the nerve, and not cut… the laryngeal nerve. I am a pastor, and my passion is to preach God’s word from the pulpit every Sunday. Losing my ability to speak and preach would have been devastating for me. Dr. Yeh spent extra time in surgery to allow me to still be able to preach God’s word, and for that I am incredibly thankful. I knew that if there was no way to save the nerve in order to remove the cancer, he would have cut the nerve. However, he saw a way to save it, and saved it even though it took more time for him to take that approach. My postoperative care was great, and the scar on my neck was unnoticeable since he made the incisions inside the natural wrinkles in my neck. As is often the case with the type of cancer I have and its natural course, I had more disease that grew after the surgery and needed to be removed. Dr. Yeh again went in and did an incredible job, and I still have no visible scars. It has been almost 4 years since my first surgery, and 3 years since my second surgery, and I am doing very well. I am forever grateful for Dr. Yeh being my surgeon. I follow-up with him regularly, and would highly recommend him to anyone who needs an excellent ENT/thyroid surgeon. His bedside manner is great, and he was so kind to explain and answer any questions my family had while I was recovering after surgery. If in the future I require more surgeries to remove more disease, I will undoubtedly go back to Dr. Yeh. His skill and expertise is unmatchable, and I am so blessed to have him as my surgeon.

When my husband had thyroid cancer, we went with someone local and couldn’t have been more wrong. From the moment we met with Dr. Yeh he was upfront had the most advance equipment to ease our concerns and answer questions we had. That was 12 years ago and his outlook hasn’t changed a bit. Also being a teaching doctor and sharing his knowledge of his background to those up and coming, he looks at us with the same concern as though it is our first visit instead of it being our up-tenth visit. We can’t help but recommend Dr. Yeh to those that are seraching for answers, honesty and with such experience and knowledge of what he can do for you. He also has a great bedside manner that is helpful when going through a health concern. Not just high in his trade but a doctor truly anxious to help and heal. Thank you Dr. Yeh, the Aven’s.

Dr. Yeh is a master of marketing. Too bad his surgical expertise does not match his marketing ability. All patients, please be careful, do not let this man operate on you. He performed a thyroidectomy on me. While doing so, he cut my laryngeal nerve, resulting in vocal cord paralysis. He also damaged my parathyroids, resulting in lifelong calcium impairment, He left remnant cancer behind. He damaged a shoulder nerve causing lifelong pain. This man is reckless. He was in rush to get me into surgery. Later I learned he embellished his surgical record. Do not, I repeat, do not let this man perform surgery on you. When confronted, he blamed statistics. Since the malpractice of Dr. Yeh, I visited Sloan Kettering and they evaluated that Dr. Yeh in fact performed a botched surgery on me.

Dr. Yeh is excellent...!!! He's been my Moms cardiologist for the past 8-10 years. His professionalism is always above the expectations. My mom feels so happy and lucky to have such a great medical provider who truly cares for his patients like family. If I could give Dr. Yeh 1,ooo starts we will do it.

He seemed to want as little to do with me as possible. Didn't return phone calls and wasn't responsive to questions I raised during our consultation. He could hardly wait to leave the room and paid more attention to my companion's apparel than he did to me.

Brilliant and sensitive surgeon!

My thyroid papillary cancer limited itself to my thyroid gland and the neck nodes. After surgery I could only whisper and the diagnosis was permanent recurrent laryngeal nerve damage with damage to the cricoid muscle and that has affected my breathing, so beside the loss of voice I have difficulty breathing.

He is smart, friendly, encouraging and accurate. When 2 other doctors said my thyroid mass was malignant,and not even worth doing a biopsy of them, he said that he thought it had a 75% chance of being benign and the biopsy proved him right. His attitude and my consequent confidence in him made me able to sleep well until the biopsy. See him- he is smarter than smart and has an amazing caring bedside manner- technology and know how of today and caring and can-do attitude of the warm family doctors of yesteryear. Seriously- he is great. Thanks Dr. Yeh.

Dr. Michael Yeh is a rare doctor in that he really prioritizes patient care. Although he's a busy guy, he was very willing to explain my heart problems to me in detail. He's also very smart and very experienced. I trust in Dr.Yeh's diagnosis and I would definitely recommend him. He shows empathy and compassion. A great doctor indeed.

I was fully satisfied except he did assert he thought I had a carcinoma due to everything in a textbook collection of symptoms I possessed. I read up on various websites a complete diagnosis of malignancy cannot be made by an FNA, only after the tissue is sliced and diced and tests are run, etc. He certainly chose a fantastic anesthesia team as I have heart problems and I never experienced any after effects of surgery. I have almost no scar, and have had a speedy recovery. I would recommend Dr. Yeh with confidence he will do the best he can for your condition as he did in mine.
