Dr. Mimi I-Nan Hu, MD

Dr Hu is currently working with me to fight thyroid cancer. It has metastasized into my lungs and we are fighting it with chemo pills. Dr Hu and her staff are awesome! I highly recommend her if anyone is in need of an endocrinologist!!

Like so many, I am grateful to be a patient of MD Anderson. However, I feel Dr. Hu falls short of the reputation that MD Anderson has spent over 75 years to build. When my case went from a simple thyroidectomy to a full blown case of hypocalcemia, bottom line is she refused to handle my case. I had to plead to get her to continue my case. Sadly, it wasn't my request that changed her mind, it was the conversation another physician had with her. In the end, she continued to run my treatment plan the way she wanted. My opinions and comments about her treatment plan simply not working did not matter. I could never get her to talk to me personally about the concerns I had. I had the opportunity to only speak to her twice, upon our first introduction appointment and a followup appointment 5 months later. Keep in mind that I had a total of 31 days of hospitalization after I met her due to complications and not one time ( even while I was IN MDAnderson for 16 of the 31 days) did she take… the time to stop by my room or call personally. I think highly of the staff that work in her office. I am not a fan of a physician who during times of complications chooses not to reach out to their patients and reassure them. I have met plenty of excellent knowledgeable doctors who may not have had the best "bedside manners" and I have met plenty of doctors with excellent "bedside manners" that lacked knowledge. In my opinion, Dr Hu doesn't qualify as a good doctor on either front. Not at the" bedside" or in knowledge. I gave up and changed doctors. To no surprise when I notified Dr. Hu that I was changing doctors because I didnt feel like I was being heard by her, she never responded. Her staff did....typical.

Staff effecient, compassionate. Dr Hu very knowledgable and communicates effectively, allowing time for discussion. I never feel rushed to have my exam and test results reviewed.

Dr. Mimi Hu, does not seem to really care about patients, She and her staff are impossible to contact by phone and due to the number of foreigners, the communication gap is impassable. I spent well over a month trying to get a prescription corrected. Resent the same prescription and when I tried to make an appointment to get the correct prescription, they told me the doctor already noted when SHE wanted to see me. I have never experienced a doctor with no concern for patients.

I couldn't ask for a better Dr. She and her staff are the best!!

Dr. Hu did not approach me in a caring manner. I had hoped she could shed light on why I was having a great deal of pain in my right leg. She did not fully discuss with me the print out of my recent bone density test. I am eighty years old and in the golden years of my life. I will not return for an appointment next year in her clinic. Dr. Hu should work on her ability to treat a human being with care and respect. She certainly has an outstanding resume and education.

Physician wait is too long, but she is outstanding in all other ways. Otherwise, all the other care, tests & appointments were prompt and well organized. I love MD Anderson & feel blessed to have been cared for & cured by them & Dr. Hu.
