Dr. Moonasar P Rampertaap has the following 2 specialties
- Sleep Medicine
A sleep medicine specialist is specially trained in diagnosing and treating disorders involving sleep.
Sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and insomnia are very common and can often cause other serious health issues, such as depression, asthma, and migraines. Sleep medicine specialists often work in sleep centers where they observe a patient while sleeping and monitor brain waves, behavior, and vital signs in order to identify the causes of sleep disturbance, or an inability to sleep (insomnia).
Sleep medicine specialists treat patients through advising on sleep hygiene, providing cognitive behavioral therapy, using light therapy, or medical sleep aides.
- Pulmonary Disease
A pulmonologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the lungs and respiratory tract.
These specialists are similar to critical care specialists in that their patients often require mechanical ventilation to assist their breathing.
Pulmonologists diagnose and treat patients with conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, asbestosis, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, COPD, and emphysema. Exposure and inhalation of certain toxic substances may also warrant the services of a pulmonologist.
Some of the tools and tests pulmonologists use to diagnose a patient are a stethoscope in order to listen for abnormal breathing sounds, chest X-rays, CT scans, blood tests, bronchoscopy, and polysomnography.

Totally misdiagnosed with having pulmonary fibrosis. Spent 8 months taking medication that I did not need. Went to USF doctor and was told I do not have this. Prognosis for pulmonary fibrosis is no more than five years survival. Now trying to find cause of my problem that was untreated due to his diagnosis. Imagine being told you have a fatal disorder when you do not. Do not go here.
This was the worst medical experience of my life! After a sleep study (two nights sleeping in the hospital) I was prescribed a sleep apnea machine. A year later when I needed a replacement tube for the machine and was told by the doctors office I would need to make an appointment and see the doctor. Otherwise I could not purchase the tubing. (I had my primary care doctor write the prescription for the broken hose and submit it over the phone. . . without an appointment.) I later found the identical tubing was available at Home Depot. Also without a prescription. Five years later I now need a new machine as mine is not functioning, my healthcare provider told me it was not necessary to have a new sleep study, only to get my records from Dr. Rampertaap. I requested the records and was told there would be a three week wait as they were taking vacations! After three weeks I was told I needed to pick them up personally (a twenty mile drive). as there was a $1 per page charge. I picked them up, paid, and submitted them to the CPAP provider who informed me they were incomplete. For three days now I have been leaving messages for Dr. Rampertaap with no response. I realize this is a long note but maybe I can save someone the suffering I've gone through this last month waking up thirty times a night trying to sleep without the aid of a CPAP machine.
If you want a lecture on how "you Americans" should appreciate having insurance that 3rd world countries do not have. Enjoy. He is only in the office on Tuesdays, yes 1 day a week. He will schedule you for all kinds of tests and each need to be done on separate days, so he can be paid several copays. When I was trying to get my results and let him know that I will look for another Dr he told me he is the ONLY Dr who can help me in Sarasota / Bradenton area. The office smells old and mildewy, the sleep test beds are horribly uncomfortable, I wonder if that's for a reason. I agree with the other review, he needs to be reevaluated as a Doctor. Bedside manners questionable. Overall rating should is less that 1 !!
