Dr. Mukesh Deviprasad Patel, MD

I checked myself into psychiatric care at Hunterdon Medical Center as I was in complete distress after unbelievable work conditions in New York City and being away from my family. It was a great paying position but the mental stress took its toll. After 5 days being admitted into 2 Central, Dr. Patel advised me that there was nothing wrong with me, and he strongly encouraged me to return to the job because the pay was something someone like me would not easily find elsewhere. He advised me to go right back into the place that caused the mental breakdown. I didn’t know any better and he put me on a regime of anti-depressants which made me feel worse. I went back to my job and a few weeks later and have a complete nervous breakdown. He professional advice was careless and inappropriate.

From the moment, i walked in the door. Dr patel treated me with no bedside manner or common courtesy. For the bulk of the visit he tried to bully me into the outpatient bahavioral therapy, despite my numerous No's. He did not talk to me or treat me like an adult, im 30, and immediatley had an agenda to strip my low dose xanax for panic attacks. He refused to ackowledge that i had panic attacks and treated mr like i was lying. At the end of the appointment, his medical opinion was an email to my Primary Physician for a low dose of Prozac and that my psychiatric care would be through my PCP, not him the Psychiatrist. He should not be working with people who suffer from mental illness, its hard enough to get out of bed and harder to get to doctors for help. Dr patel makes me lose faith in psychiatrists and especially any psychiatrists in the hunterdon group

Very nice man. Didn't try to hospitalize me when a screener wanted to admit me despite a complete lack of any psychiatric symptoms. I was in no way a danger to myself and Dr. Patel recognized that. Thank heavens for people like him to fix situations like I was in because of incompetent screeners who lack good judgement and reasoning skills!
