Dr. Muralidhar K Acharya has the following 2 specialties
A nephrologist is a physician who is specially trained to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the kidneys or renal system.
A nephrologist will determine through urine analysis, blood test, X-ray, sonogram, or kidney biopsy how well the kidneys are functioning and will then prescribe a special diet and exercise program, medication or dialysis - a process by which a machine filters the blood when the kidney is no longer capable of doing so.
- Internal Medicine
An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

I've been going to this physician for many years. While I love Dr. Acharya I have to say I'm disappointed with the office. Over the years it just has been deteriorating quickly. The building looks deserted from the outside, overgrown bushes, cracked windows in the front and dirty looking. Inside is not very clean and smells like stale smoke. The staff can be nice until I asked them a question then they snapped at me. All I wanted to do was check the balance of my account and they quickly snapped "that's not my department you have to call billing we don't answer those questions". They wouldn't even let me explain that I didn't have a question about my bill just wanted to check if I owed anything. When I got home I called their billing line and was actually told I had a credit and shouldn't have even paid a copay. Crazy! If you're not put off by the look of the place or the attitude of the staff the physician is really sweet and cares for his patients. Unfortunately a great physician with a bad building and staff.
This office in Hudson is so unprofessional. First of all when you walk in it's almost like walking into a bar it smell so muck like old smoke. Then all you hear is an older lady yelling information about other patients all through the office. This was my last time going here. I will not have my information shouted all over where everyone can hear. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
There isn't enough space for me to praise Dr. Acharya. My family moved to FL in 1979 and, while driving from Palm Beach to the Gulf Coast, my dialysis patient father began to fade - desperately. I was a young girl and watched him turning gray and becoming unresponsive. This was back when you could drive for many miles and not even see a gas station in Florida, and cell phones were science fiction. We didn't know what to do. My mother had once read about Dr. A's brand new clinic in New Port Richey, so we drove there, hoping he would last and hoping they would take us even though we were not patients and no prior arrangements were made. Also, dialysis clinics were not in every town back then. You cannot know how terrifying it was to be a young child watching your father potentially die before your eyes and know that hope was in the kindness of strangers a good distance away. Dr. Acharya not only immediately made room at his very busy clinic for my father (not easy in the world of dialysis), but gave him the best of care and took the time to make sure my mother was calm and reassured, and that she could attend to me and my brother as we feared for our father's health and waited outside.Years later, after my elderly father had died from a heart attack, I ended up working for a doctor who practiced in Dr. Acharya's building. Dr. A. made sure the clinic was as lovely for the patients as it could be. I got to witness the behind the scenes compassion and dedication Dr. A. had for his patients. I could tell you things that you will never hear from other doctors' offices about his kindness and selflessness, his concern over every aspect of the patients' well-being and how he plays tough and professional on the outside, but has the softest of hearts. Healing and providing the best of care and compassion is not only his profession and his passion, but it seems to be his life's blood. I went on to work in healthcare for nearly 10 years in three states and, while I worked with a few very good and caring doctors, I never ever met one like Dr. Acharya. He is one in a trillion. If there is a God, surely this man deserves the highest of blessings for all his life of hard work and healing. Our family will never EVER forget his kindness and we will always be grateful to him. We always wish him and his lovely family all the blessings life can offer.
