Dr. Neil David Smith, MD

Dr Smith was the only person to care about my well being. went out of his way to make me comfortable at the hospital. Made calls to me surgery. to try and get answers from her, which she refused to return his phone calls, my phone calls and my dr's phone calls. I went threw a lot of test she requested and never had anything done, because she would not contact us. Wish that dr. Smith had not had to leave for medical reason, as I know he would still be there for me. I do hope the praying I did for him has helped him .

Excellent doctor. Spends a lot of time explaining. Very thorough. Takes an excellent history which is 90% of the diagnosis. Seems genuinely interested in his patients. Would recommend him highly to anyone. overall rating 5

Dr Smith is a nice person. His diagnosis methodology is the routine of using standard tests starting at the "A's" and keep going toward "Z" until the right one triggers a result of interest. It might be better if the Dr would put some thought in before the battery of tests based on the symptoms and eliminate some tests that aren't necessary nor have any bearing to the symptoms exhibited. I've been seeing him for over a year and we still don't have a diagnosis. Options are very/too limited here in midcoast Maine. That said, he probably has too many people to see to spend the needed amount of time with patients. The receptionist is not very professional and I'm surprised she is in that line of work, especially for a doctor's office.

Dr. Smith ordered tests and never told me the results. I found out the results were very abnormal when I saw another GI doctor for a second opinion. If Dr. Smith was operating under a totally different assumption that never took into account the results of the testing he ordered.
