Dr. Neill Torsten Peters JR., MD

The front desk staff is extremely rude and dismissive. There is an attitude oozing off them that you should be honored to even have an appointment time. And speaking of appointment times, this office shows no respect to others' schedules. They acknowledge this fairly openly ("we're always running behind schedule") and don't care. They'll also try to push products on you, making this place feel a bit like a medical spa as much as a doctor's office. If you have no choice but to deal with him, I suppose you have to do what you have to do. But in a city the size of Chicago, there are many more professional dermatology practices who can help.

When Dr. Peters walks into the room, he brings with him a sense of care, calmness, and expertise. I would argue he is one of the best Doctors in his field. He gives you what you need to know straight and has wonderful bedside manners. I've been going to Dr. Peters for at least 7 years and he always blows me away with knowledge and foresight. I appreciate how he explains conditions and treatments to his patients and he is fantastic educator. For a guy who is so busy, that is extremely respectable.

doesn't seem to like to be asked questions

I was told I got bug bites by 2 zocdoc dermatologists and 1 family physician last year. I spent so much money on seeing those 3 doctors. However I kept having the weird rashes. When I finally got to see Dr. Peters, it didn't take even one minute for him to diagnose what they were. He is just that brilliant. If you need the accurate diagnosis, go see Dr. Peters. And if you have a question, you can send him a note through their patient portal, he will answer you at the end of the day. He is such a caring and smart doctor!

The scheduler told me the so neat I could get in was two weeks. I explained that my GP referred me and that the situation was urgent. Still two weeks. Just suffer for two weeks and then we will grace you with a chance to alleviate your pain. Gee whiz, thanks!

I have been going to Dr. Peters for years, but am after several negative experiences I am not sure I will return. Dr. Peters is an intelligent man in his 40s and spends a lot of time with his patients. It's nice not to feel rushed with you're with him, but please note that also means you'll wait an hour plus past your appointment time just to see him. That's not the biggest downfall though, his moodiness is. He may seem like a nice caring guy during one appointment or an uncaring, pessimistic and egotistical doctor at the next. Apparently they have had the same issue with other employees there which has led to turnover. Maybe it's contagious?

Dr. Peters is OK. The two main things I would like to see from him is (1) Solicit more information from the patient, and listen fully to the answer; and (2) be more proactive flagging trouble spots.
