Billing, Radiology and other services are provided through St Luke's University hospital system, so be sure that your insurance accepts both the doctor and the hospital and hospital provided services. Be aware that St Luke's uses medical extenders routinely. This means that instead of the board certified physician that you have an appointment to see, a resident in their program or PA will walk into your examination room, unidentified, wearing no ID, asking no consent, nor providing any confidentiality policy while starting to talk to and examine you. Please ask this person who, why, what etc and dismiss this person if you do not agree with this policy. You do not have to allow this non-consented to intrusion? The examination will likely be repeated when the doctor arrives. Billing is done through St Luke's Hospital system.
Dr. Avallone performed surgery for my son and is taking great care of him. We could not wish for anyone else to handle his treatment. Thank you Dr. Avallone for being excellent at what you do and for showing us such compassion. Although the staff is short-staff and busy, they do try to get back to you and assist with all matters. I have nothing but great things to say , especially after the horrible physical therapy treatments and appointment I had at VSAS and OAA - you should really go there to see what "rude" behavior looks like.
Waited 3 weeks for appointment for consultation on ankle with 2 plates and 9 pins causing extreme pain and swelling making it difficult or impossible to walk. Office staff is very unprofessional. Told me one thing on the phone, then something else when I got to the appointment. I became upset and started speaking louder when they told me they couldn't see me because of the error, so they lectured me on "appropriate" voice levels and behavior and threatened to have me escorted off the property after commenting on what a "sweetie" I was(among other insults). After a half hour of this abuse, I left to try to obtain the correct paperwork. I returned with the proper paperwork and they told me because of their "zero tolerance" policy, they would not accept me as a patient. I filed a complaint with the administration of the hospital and was told the office would call to reschedule an appointment. They never did. I wouldn't use this doctor anyway because of the extremely unprofessional staff he has working for him, but I think it is worth noting that not even a hospital administrator(who controls whether or not they are even allowed to use hospital facilities or are on the referral list for hospital doctors) can compel the staff at this office to act in a manner that helps the business. It's hard to believe that a doctor would allow his staff to treat patients this way, but it's pretty typical of the treatment my husband and I have observed and received in the St. Luke's physician group.
This doctor showed no concern the days following my surgery. He did not return messaged left when I was still having pain, throbbing and swelling. He did not see me after surgery before i left the hospital nor did he call that night. In my opinion we patients are just a number and a dollar sign. He and his office staff were rude except for Vicki the scheduling nurse. I wouldn't recommend him to ANYONE!
