More about Dr. Nora Fullington

Dr.  Nora Fullington is board-certified in general surgery and performed over 2,000 surgeries while working as a General Surgeon prior to specializing in hernia, pilonidal, and gallbladder surgery. She graduated from Providence College with a BA in Biology, earned her MD at New York Medical College, and trained in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts with a research fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston.

She has extensive experience in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. Her experience allows for a carefully tailored approach to hernia repair, where patient-specific characteristics help determine which of many surgical approaches is truly best for each person. She seeks to provide the highest quality repair with the best possible recovery for every patient.

This includes no mesh repairs, preperitoneal mesh repairs through a small incision in the abdominal wall over the hernia, and laparoscopic hernia repairs.  In addition to tailoring the surgical approach, anesthesia type is carefully selected based on the needs of each patient.

She is an active member of the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative (ACHQC) - a national registry of long-term data and patient-reported outcomes. Participation in this collaborative is used to maximize the quality and value of healthcare for patients who suffer from hernia disease. Dr. Fullington is committed to providing specialized, efficient, high-quality care while creating as comfortable an experience for her patients as possible.

She is passionate about humanitarianism in medicine and has organized surgical mission trips to Haiti to treat the underserved population in Port au Prince and surrounding communities. Dr. Fullington has facilitated the humanitarianism in the medicine lecture series. She cares deeply that patients are heard and understood and feel the benefits of a collaborative approach to their care.

When not working, she enjoys time with her family, friends, and pets.  She also loves travel, sports, hiking, beach, biking, cooking, and good conversation.
