Dr. Patricia Shen Chi Wu, MD

I would give Dr. Wu 0 stars if possible! Dr. Wu referred me to psychiatry for anxiety although I had very high levels of Free T3 and low but normal levels of TSH. At that time, I had a Pituitary Adenoma and was hyperadrenergergic eg, tachycardia, with a fine resting tremor, hypertensive and losing weight no matter what I ate. In despair, the psychiatrist agreed with me that Dr. Wu was guilty of malpractice, (I didn’t sue her because I am also a physician) I switched to a PPO and was seen at UCLA’s Pituitary Center where for once labs were drawn properly and the team immediately agreed that I had a very rare TSH secreting adenoma. I was scheduled for surgery. The pathology confirmed what Kaiser had been telling me what I knew for many years! I had been suffering for years and Kaiser’s unwillingness to spend money on tests, surgeries. Made my life misery! Thank God for Dr. Bergensneider!

I had communicated with this Dr regarding my thyroid issue. She just told me to take pain medicine and Prednisone. I had phone appt and months later for in person appt. However, 3 weeks before the in person appt, she refused to have appt even though I had other more symptoms. She kept prescribing me pain medicine that I already had. One time she forgot to release lab order after she told me to go get the lab test. I needed to commute to the hospital twice just for Thyroid test. I looked up her experience and etc. I have learned that having more experience does not mean that the doctor is a good professional doctor.

I had been dealing with symptoms of hypothyroidism for months (weight gain, abnormal periods, hair loss, exhaustion, painful intercourse, etc) and my TSH was on the rise. I begged my doctor for a referral to endocrinology and was so happy to finally go get some help. Dr Wu sent her student in to deal with me and joined us at the end of the appointment. After not having listened to any of my input, she suggested I "was dealing with a mental issue" and referred me to a psychiatrist, she said I was "depressed and stressed out and needed to take a class to learn how to sleep better" and blamed the painful intercourse on me "not being attracted to my husband anymore" (we were married 3 months prior to my appointment!). I am a medical professional myself, so I didn't exactly fall of the turnip truck when it comes to dealing with health issues. Very unprofessional and highly inappropriate, would NOT recommend.

She is a very good DR.
