Now Offering Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)
A cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) is a comprehensive assessment of cardiopulmonary function. CPET uses a combination of blood
pressure monitoring, spirometry, continuous electrocardiogram, and exhaled gas analysis to help determine the source of a patient's breathing difficulty. These tests show how quickly a patient changes from aerobic to anaerobic respiration, whether or not their shortness of breath is due to deconditioning, a cardiac process, or pulmonary insufficiency. To schedule a cardiopulmonary test, please call the Northside Hospital Pulmonary Diagnostics Lab
The CPET program is directed by Dr. Abubakr Chaudhry, an amateur mixed martial arts competitor, and Dr. Paul Boyce, an avid squash player. Both physicians have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented their research at state and national conferences. Drs. Chaudhry and Boyce both appreciate the role exercise plays in attaining the best quality of life possible. Together they have partnered with the Northside Hospital Sports Medicine Network to provide athletes with cutting-edge data showing how to optimize their athletic performance.
