Dr. Paul Stanger, MD

It’s been a long time since I’ve we have seen Dr.Stanger, but I still think about doctor stranger to this day and all his true passion for cardiology. I was a teenage mom, My son was only 3 months old when he was referred by a sweet nurse “Dotty” after a wellness checkup Dotty noticed my sons heart has a different beat to it. When we first saw Dr.Stanger he immediately told me my son had a murmur and if it didn’t close up on its own by the time he was 1year, they would have to put a stent, when he turned one He had just that. Well in 2003 my son had endocarditis he was only three years old the medical doctors at natividad hospital phoned Dr.Stanger from UCSF and he immediately answered. They sent him all lab results/chest x Ray results and immediately Dr. Stanger stepped up to the plate talked to me over the phone and explained everything in great but short simple detail. That night we flew via helicopter from nativiad to UCSF and we were met by him there and his pediatric… cardiology team. He gave us so much support. We followed up with him until my son was 17years old, it was bitter sweet looking for an adult cardiologist. There isn’t and hasn’t been anyone truly caring in cardiology like him. My son and I always talk about him and how much we wish he could practice adult cardiology. Forever grateful for gifted kind people like Dr.Stanger.

Dr. Stanger has been my son's cardiologist from birth to the present, 17+ years. It is hard to imagine a doctor more knowledgeable, caring, compassionate and dedicated than Dr. Stanger. My son was born with severe congenital heart defects (necessitating three heart surgeries that resulted in a single ventricle anatomy), as well as a cleft lip/palate. In the myriad of fine doctors that we have seen, Dr. Stanger has truly been the brightest star. He has successfully sought to establish a relationship of trust with my son, a quality whose value is beyond measure in a doctor treating children. Dr. Stanger has carefully considered every question that we have posed and always provides a prompt, thoughtful and courteous response. Due to his many years of experience, he has provided wise counsel at every juncture. He is fabulous!
