Dr. Paula Knapp Baker, DO

I am the type of patient who keeps the same doctors until they retire or move. I have lived in Florida for 5 years and just recently switched over to Baker for insurance reasons. She is a very poor listener, stands at hospital door to speak with me for 4 minutes and leave, she rolls her eyes and gossips in her office and I was within hearing distance. Changed my medication dosages and frequency without discussion. I found out when I picked my medication up from the pharmacy. I called her office regarding a fall I had in the hospital. She saw me in the hospital the day after, but she didn’t listen or leave the doorway of my hospital room. 4 days later and in tears from pain I called office and explained to her medical assistant that I think I should get an x-ray. Not a difficult request. I called her Tuesday and Wednesday no return call. She finally called 4 days after and said she couldn’t understand why I was asking and she was confused about the entire request. Falls in hospitals… are a big deal. She had to sign the incident report. How could she be so oblivious? Being a doctor requires dedication and commitment. I received neither. I am overweight because I have had 9 months of getting 1000mg steroids and I am so puffy. She fat shamed me each time I had contact with her. I know I am over weight and I understand that she may tell me once. However, my weight was “cause of your Multiple Sclerosis flare, my Behçets Disease, Autoimmune liver failure”. I also got bladder/kidney infection because I was overweight and that was probably making hygiene difficult. All I can summise is mean, terribly uncaring and many problems that I don’t even know about. I found a new doctor who is everything Paula is not and more.

Dr is very thorough and attentive to my issues. Follows up when necessary. Staff is friendly and professional.

My visit to Dr. Knapp-Baker was an initial exam. She listened attentively, asked probing questions as necessary, and answered my questions in a comprehensive manner. She suggested and prescribed a medication as a trial to treat a medical concern and prescribed and provided referrals to two specialists for follow-up treatment. Overall, it was a positive experience.

My review was not for Dr. Paula herself, rather her staff. When I walked into my appointment, the nurse at the front desk was watching Netflix on her phone and told me to wait a few minutes before letting me fill out my paperwork. She literally did nothing but watch the show. Currently I'm on hold with the office and have been for 20 minutes.

Willing to listen to me, and I'm an odd duck. So glad for her patience.

This was unbelievable I was in a bad car accident in this dr would not give me a referrel to a physical therapist which the hospital and my attorney said I needed to do. She wrote me a letter and said she could no longer be my doctor so being on Medicare I had no doctor since you have to wait till the first of the month. My male companion went into the exam room w me and we both said she was by far the rudest doctor ever. I told my physchrist about her and he said some doctors should not be doctors and she was one of them. Her husband used to be my primary care physician and he was great. Wish I could let him know how she treats senior citizens who have been badly injured in a car accident where a lady on her cell phone ran a red light and tboned our car. Totaled it. The stress and trauma of the accident and my fear of driving now plus this dr treating me like this almost sent me over the edge.
